I think Sonix just was playing off against cloud. He just ripped through Sparg0s cloud last weekend

Leo said his new line-up will be Joker and ROB along with Aegis. I think if he replaces Aegis with Corrin, he has a really promising line-up. I can't believe he still believes in Aegis so much when he was so easy to give up on the Corrin, even though he saw great success with that character last year and against Sonix this year at Wavedash
He doesn't think Corrin is good if you're not solo maining. I think you're right though. I think that trio takes care of everything for Leo

Crazy how not even like 2 weeks after this sonix goes from losing to spargo in winner finals ( or losers idk ), but then destroys him in grands. The learning and adapting from this player is insane
Yeah, I agree with what Larry said in the video. The other top 4 have an easier time being consistent compared to Sparg0 because the characters they play are more resistant to cheese early in brackets

@@illford6921it came to mind because Sonix can grind out the few matchups Sonic struggles with and then excel. Not to downplay his hard work I'm just saying Sparg0 has more bad matchups to worry about with his characters if he wants to overcome the other top 4 in the rankings next year

@@aymenjbailiI wouldn’t say it’s about matchups, but there is definitely an argument to be made that Cloud is inherently more volatile than Sonic, Steve, or GnW, which makes it easier for him to lose or for the game to swing off of single mistakes

What WTT showed me is that Sparg0 is the true best player in the world. He has the no.1 ranked player so shook that he can't use his completely broken top tier against him, and he broke Sonix's morale during Grand Finals of all things (albeit, Sonix got him back later).
Let's not even mention the clip he got on Miya; the only other person to get something like that on a G&W was Nairo against Maister. Sparg0 is on another level when he's in the zone. Peak MKLeo levels or even above, I dare to say.

I think people are still overrating acola’s skill as a player. “Fishing for kills” is a weird wad of saying that he just throws random fsmashes regardless of what character he plays.
Nah because his DK was kinda clean too 😭. He's exceptionally skilled he's not Sparg0 or Sonic but he's at worst top 10 skill. You don't be number 1 without being good at the game skill wise
To be fair, it's objectively a good strategy when you're playing Steve. Minecart, anvil, backair and forward smash are all hard to punish and kill incredibly early. So when the opponent is over a certain percent, it makes sense to start spamming these four kill moves, with the occasional upsmash, uptilt+upsmash and downsmash, because if you're right the opponent is dead, and if you're wrong you can just tech your own block walls or get out of disadvantage easily with minecart. Obviously, he's not just pressing these buttons randomly, there's a strategy to his spamming, but it still creates habits that are not beneficial when he's playing a different character. However, I do think he already toned down these habits with his Aegis over the last few months and he just needs to keep practicing her to be able to switch in and out of the Steve mindset more easily.

I agree with Steve it kinda makes sense to do that but alas I just don’t think he’s really that highly skilled at the game. Nice just not as fundamentally sound as his peers.

I feel like people keep talking about Leo falling off but I feel like he just doesn't really care about the game or even the competition anymore, at least not to the level of the early years of the game.
Love Leo and want to see him succeed, but this is such a cope take, brother. The time and money he puts into traveling to most of these tournaments alone obviously shows that he's still dedicated to the game. Also, it's not like he's just going to these majors/supermajors as a content creator or to meme.
He's still consistently reaching top 12 at these tournaments, but sadly he's been eclipsed by those making it just as far in bracket. His perpetual 'character crisis' surely isn't doing him any favors, but I really don't think it's as simple as him "not caring about the game anymore." Were that the case, he wouldn't be spending hundreds of hours and many thousands of dollars on travel each year.
@@343Films I mean what else are you gonna do when it's your job/ lifestyle. All I'm saying is if it was a new smash I feel like he'd be going harder. Watching him on a few podcast he just talked like he was just playing to maintain some level of skill and hopefully win. Hard to explain but it reminds me a lot of how mango just stops caring every few years, he just seemed burned out

Leo is going to return in 2024, he has something that the first three lack; mental strength, hence the myth of 4th game Leo. Whether it's Spargo, Acola, or Sonix, they get mentally shaken and lose very badly. That's what happened to Spargo at Coinbox IRL, Sonix at WTT, and Acola at WTT. Leo is much stronger mentally, and if he now starts playing ROB, which fits much better into the meta, you'll see. I still believe

Larry I gotta say, maybe Leo is playing different characters because he wants to have some fun. This game is becoming so boring that Leo doesn’t want play the same character all the time. You still have to like the game so your not miserable.
That could be true but this is a meta where solo maining joker isn’t good anymore. Sonic is the biggest example of why Leo can’t use joker against. Also, he looked so pissed when he lost Kanniabe at port priority and glutonny at smash factor. He is definitely trying to win and not sandbagging.
By this logic, Sonix, Light, Miya, Apollo, Mute, Big D, Gluto, Sisqui, Tarik, Goblin, Shadic, Zomba, etc. "don't have fun" and are thus "miserable" because they only play one character??

Hearing people talk about leo's character choices is starting to annoy me. It's not the character's fault. A year ago he was whoopin everyone with whatever character he felt like at the time. Going full byleth or corrin or joker or rob won't fix that. Leo is the goat and will always be but don't cope your way into thinking he's still the same player he was.

Sonix honestly seems borderline unbeatable by anybody except for Sparg0 and Light. Even Sparg0 is questionable because they go back and forth. It just seems like Smash Con is cursed for him cuz he keeps losing early in that series

It proved how much ppl hate Acola
It proved how much people hate Steve because there was rarely a personal insult at acola when it was about Steve.
Everyone is seemingly also forced now to always give props and credit to acola before arguing for a Steve ban instead of just calling him carried.
I think that he could still be a great player without Steve but definetely not on this current "level" where he constantly steals sets away when his opponent made one wrong choice out of like 50.
Acola showed that it really only needs one player with Top 15 skill to dominate with that character and this dominance will be even more evident if Dabuz, Peanut and other top players actually pick up the character.
Steve being still partially allowed because every Steve defender got cold feet at finally banning a meta ruining character for once makes everything even worse with certain regions having no practice against the character.
The spectator used to have the most entertainment during Top 8 but when more and more people lose all enthusiasm after Top 32 something is going wrong.
The majority only watches to cheer for the downfall of the campy characters now and the moment the opposite happens the whole vibe is just dead.
I for one want a time back where we didn't have "heroes" and "villains" at tournaments but a giant variety out of players to cheer for when fundies still used to mean something.
Now it's just about executing your broken characters gameplan that your opponent can hardly do anything against when they mess up once and that feels just lame and not worth watching for.
I'm not hating on acola when i state that he's carried i'm just saying my opinion on the topic because i will no longer watch Ultimate if it keeps staying this way even tho i really enjoy the game and loved watching it before all that FP2 nonesense.

It makes me so sad to see MKLeo in this current state. Idk why but I get into esports by basically latching onto the strongest player at the time and never letting them go.
Through smash 4 I was always a Zero fan, I've been an MKLeo fan since the start of smash ultimate and even now, and I've been a Faker fan since Worlds 2013. Seeing a "new best player" always makes me feel sad and I can never bring myself to jump ship for some reason, unless it's a new game.
MAJOR SPELLING MKSTAKE
Any character can win a tournament. Smash is very balanced, at least compared to every other fighting game. That might be an unpopular opinion, however considering the amount of options you have as opposed to other games in the genre, no matchup is unwinnable. That being said I do think Smash is also very matchup-heavy. Some characters are Ganondor and others have good matchups against 90% of the cast, like the block man. That being said it's not broken in my opinion. Broken to me is when a character is just objectively better than everyone else and you are at a disadvantage if you don't play them, like Meta Knight in Brawl and Bayonetta in Smash 4. Steve, Kazuya, and whoever else can be beaten and have bad matchups so it's fair, although most people may not see it that way. I always like a challenge so I don't mind, and I also don't mind switching characters if the matchup is bad. Perhaps if more people would learn more characters, I mean the game has like 86 or something, the vitriol this community has would be less annoying and pathetic.

I’m here for this campy playstyle I’d rather it over mindlessly mashing from low tiers like incin or king k rool. Give me a good chess match of Sonic vs Steve than two Roy’s just pressing buttons at the ghosts of each other
There's no interesting strategy to a Sonic vs Steve match. It consists of the Steve player guessing and trying to cover as many options from the Sonic player as possible by placing a bunch of hitboxes in hopefully unpredictable ways, while the Sonic player just has to consistently keep his cool and make his way through the hitboxes, which is always technically possible to do thanks to his mobility.

@@Tryton-A-Morrispeople prefer Roy and Falcon because 1) they are much less likely to stall the match by not interacting and 2) they actually risk getting hit when they approach to a noticeable degree
Steve and Sonic are repetitive and boring because their options are either uneventful or unsuspenseful (although I’ll admit this is less true when they’re fighting each other)
