First off, congratulations on the twins! Secondly, I love seeing comparison videos like this. It really puts into context how fungus affects the images. Cheers. 🍻

Thanks Ruben! I was about to scrap this one because of the underexposure (and some lost frames because i opened the back thinking it hadn't wound properly), but I'm glad i didn't!

Pretty neat comparison! Obviously the clean lens has produced much nicer images, but the one with fungus had some character of it's own.

Thanks for the comment! I'd say it's always better to avoid fungus (sometimes it spreads to other lenses!) but no need to get rid of the lens - it's very possible to remove it.

(but a bit of a pain in the ass - which is why I chose to replace this one)

The photos shooting towards the sun looks more natural for me.
Maybe my eyeballs are having a decent amout of damege like the fungus lens.

There's definitely a case to be made for the softer look of those. I actually prefer less contrast sometimes, too.

Super interesting video, thanks Phil! Just curious, where in the city do you get your film developed?

Thanks for the comment! Most of my images are developed and scanned at Yellowjacket in Sendagi (same day medium format!) But when I'm lazy i just drop them off at Bic Camera or Kitamura.

Thank you very much! It's a crazy time but i wouldn't trade it for anything.

Not that hard to clean the lenses. You are in Japan which has lots of places to buy the right tools to open and unscrew covers. Lucky, the lenses are not that expensive to buy in mint condition.

If it was a more expensive lens, i probably would've. But for one this cheap, and with two children and limited time, easier to just get a new one and recoup the cost by selling it.
