That is what I needed. I was confused when my Chinese language teacher was saying 'e' every time differently and I couldn't see the pattern. Thank you Grace :)
This is exactly what I need to learn Mandarin. I have been looking for this kind of lessons for a long time. I finally found a GREAT Chinese teacher here. Ms Guo teaches Mandarin in detail. I like the way you show us both Traditional and Simplified form of Chinese so that we can learn both at the same time. I wish you could write the characters on top of Chinese characters Bigger. Thank you Ms. Guo. You"re an excellent Chinese teacher.👍🙂🙏🏾
I think yours are the only videos I religiously hit 'like' on. There's just so much useful information in them. Very glad I signed up to italki, too, even as a beginner. It's so good being able to ask questions and get instant answers.
Great phonetics work here! Because you brought it up, I noticed that where I lived in China, a lot of people _always_ pronounced "er" as "ar", for any word. I never paid attention to it before...
Thank you so much for this video, it’s just what I need. I live in Taiwan I have been frustrated when I speak Chinese and people sometimes don’t understand what I want to say. I’ve been using your videos to improve my pronunciation, and have noticed that this happens much less often. Thanks so much.
Want to say thank you for using IPA to help with pronunciation. It helps so much... I wish textbooks would do this! Superb channel btw - I'm just starting to learn Mandarin and these short videos have been immensely helpful. Xiexie!
I just started learning 注音 so this is a little overkill for me but I like how you always use both 拼音 and 注音 and traditional and simplified characters so that everyone feels welcome.
No wonder people have said my 这 sounds weird.. It's because I was using the e sound from 饿 or 恶. Now I know I don't have to use that slightly more difficult e sound. 谢谢你,Grace 老师!
Oooh I never noticed this. I've actually started learning Cantonese via Jyutping and lamented how inconsistent I found a lot of pronunciation and lamenting about how much consistent I thought PinYin was. Guess I just got used to it. Some of those sounds, I didn't think sounded different but I guess you're being pretty thorough and I appreciate that :-)
Reminds me a little of the english -ough sound. trough plough through enough dough Having spoken English my whole 34 years of life, I still don't know how to tell them apart besides "I just knough."
спасибо за урок! очень четкие и понятные объясния! Могли бы Вы при приведении примеров из двусложных слов повторять их 3 раза (1 - медленно - я только слушаю; 2 - медленно - я поторяю за Вами; 3 - быстрее - я повторяю за Вами быстрее) до паузы для самостоятельного повторения?

Thanks a Lot!!! Sorry, I was wondering, is the 門's "en" pronounced the same as 前's "an"? Or is there a differences between the schwa sound in "en" terninations and the sound that we should do in words ending in "ian - yuan"?

I've learned a lot form this vid as a native speaker lol ;) but I'm wondering why in this video January is pronounced as *yíyuè* instead of *yīyuè* ? Im asking because the rule is when 一 (yī) appears as an ordinal number (as in "first"), or as a number in a series, address, or date, it is pronounced without the tone change (regular first tone "yī")

Indeed, I also confuse for years until Grace told me that one character might sound in different ways, which is not taught in my class.
If anyone asks me for help with pronunciation, I just tell them to come here... great job Grace!

Molto utile grazie, immaginavo difatti che si pronunciasse come la "i" di first oppure la "u"di bus inglese, il suono del "moribondo" 😌

Can you make a video on Chinese "a"

3. Should the tone changes , tone symbol should be changed ? thanks

23123.
3.no need to change ton symbol
