Nice to see you back! Another tool in the toolbag: the way Nick Saban played 4 strong from a Cover 3 shell is he’d play “Mable” which is strong-rotated spot-drop C3. What you’re doing essentially is getting rid of the back-side curl-flat (since your CB is manned up back there and there isn’t another receiver) and adding an additional zone defender to the front-side. Instead of playing curl-flat and hook-curl on the frontside, Saban plays 3 defenders that play flat / curl / hook. The way to get to that in Madden is to call a strong-rotated Fire Zone (SS Blitz 3 in 4-2-5 Over G) and hot route the nickel into a hard flat or some zone over there, then user the backside backer. If anything comes from the strong-side, take him man to man.
Also the nickel in Mable has all of 2 vertical up and out. The S buzzing down strong side has 3-4 out the Wk hook backer has 3-4 vertical and 2 inside. The backside Seam flat has the 1st across. The solo is MEG.
@@kghostthegreatThis is correct, and you can get this with minimal adjustments by playing 3buzz match flipped. Man the weakside corner(he plays zone by default), and user the weakside backer. Seam flat defender is mes on 2 by default, and strong side backer has 1st to the flat(reading 4-3). User has 1st deep crosser or 2nd to the flat(3-4). My biggest gripe is that the weakside seam flat defender gets too much width and depth, and the weakside backer plays crossers inconsistency when not selected. Otherwise its pretty sound, so pretty cool you can play actual 3 mable for once. Also, it looks like the strong side corner plays midpoint technique which is a nice touch.
Cover four palms isn’t playing the rules like it should in college football 25 now it does in Madden 25 but not college. I’m labbing both of them and I noticed that cover four Palms isn’t playing correctly in college football.
4 strong naturally outleverages C3 with a weak rotation of any kind. This is why Mable coverage exists, it is strong rotation C3 (shows 2 high) with these same rules with the the high S to the strong side buzzing down to be the strong hook defender, and the LB to the quads side being the Wk hook (3 up), and the Wk backer as the Back side Seam flat
Thanks for the videos. You’re helping me increase my defensive knowledge. In match coverage, are the defenders still using their zone coverage ratings or do they use man coverage ratings when they go MEG or MES? I play a lot of dynasty and want to know what type of DB’s to recruit.
Dope vid. Don't know if you have experimented with push calls yet but when I tried, it didn't look like it was working. Cover 2 push was a nice tool for bunch str in madden. I'll def be tuned in for future vids
Yea for all the good things they've implemented in the game, we have some bad things. I believe the push call worked in cover 2 zone if I recall . . . but that's it. I have to lab a little bit more specifically against 4 strg and find some work arounds.
@XandoFootball Did you checkout that Usc playbook gotta a lot of Mike Leach Air raid principles in there. Can't wait to see you cook up a scheme in it.
I figured it out by watching your video when you said divider line, but my question still ask if the receiver is on the number what is the rule to shade the receiver?
@Xando So would you user the weak side Safety? Especially in a Buzz situation right? And presnap, would you move your LB's to the right so they're in better position? (The '3 UP' guy had to run a long way)
I’d user the weakside backer or weakside seam defender. Both of them struggle the most in this coverage which is fine cause the user can mitigate those weaknesses.
@Xando I have a question for you if you get the time to answer I m new member and appreciate the work that you do contact wise keep it going. So you are take all the popular offenses that people like to use and putting again defense that would have a chance to shut them down. So from what I m getting you said to ran 4 vert again the defense to see how the defense go again it if I m saying it right?
Basically, if you want to know the skeleton of how a defense is coded, I'd run 4 verts against it and see how it interacts with it. Then from there, you run different route combinations to get a little more precise on the rules of the defense. The main thing about a defense is, you want it to be sound no matter what. Sure there are some weaknesses in a defense, but one way you can tell a defense is not sound is when someone is running scott free up the field in 4 verts.
@@XandoFootball oh ok thank you I just finish watching your concepts video and I notice that you talk about the mills concept but you did not have in it your video are there more then just 8 concepts

@@XandoFootball oh ok so I will take a second look at the concept video again to learn how to attack different formations on defense. Just trying to learn the game and your video go into details which will help me out a lot.
@Oz_1750 if I had to point to a particular concept that emphasizes the essence of overloading/numerical advantage....I would point to learning the hank concept first. I have a video on that. The good thing about concepts is that once you learn them....they are good forever. Right now, in any madden...I could run the hank concept against single high and know the reads. Can you run 3 traffic vs 4 strong still? Also does it only work with a back in the backfield on the strong side or can it work 5 out 4 strong like bunch quads etc?

I find the weak side rotation is generally better vs 4x1 and the strong side rotation is better for 3x1
