We have a fair mouth of Aluula kites in our group. We love them nothing even comes close in my opinion , I’m 76 years old kiting for 20 years tried many kites. You mentioned no zipper to remove bladder, out first repair was on a 6 Aluula roam. It’s a challenge first time for sure , Ocean Rodeo still never posted a repair video as they promised, but don’t let this scare you off, they just need to get one out there. One other problem is a 10 meter blew apart in a wave , no one local could repair it so back to the dealer, they have mentioned just replacing it for my friend , we will see how that goes. So far one of the best company’s I have dealt with on problems. We love Aluula but maybe a few bugs to iron out yet.
my buddy had an aluula blow open the leading edge with almost no crash.. was a wierd problem for sure but they are giving him a new one.. hope it holds up better
This is a great review. I feel that your review is far better than Duotone or Ocean Rodeo. These companies never seem to break it down for anyone with less than professional/elite riding skills.
I have an Aluula Flite 12 and 17 that I use for TT. I've got an Aluula Roam 9 on order for foiling. I looked at the 10, but wanted a bit bigger range between my 12 and next step down. I had to have the 12 repaired due to a slight rip in the Aluula material. Local kite shop, Mojo Actionsports, sent it in and they fixed where it's hard to see the repair. The light wind capabilities of these kites are pretty amazing. I'm new into foiling, still doing butt transitions, but can foil in 8mph with my 17. Great review and comparison. Thanks.
@@vim55k 210lbs or 95Kg. Still love the 9 Roam, but replacing the 12 Flight with a 12 Airush Ultra. Doing transitions now, but still working foot swaps.
Great review! Surprised that they compare so closely - I thought the Aluula would spank the SLS. I appreciated all the stats you put in the review - especially the weight of the kites. It's hard to find this information and I'm glad you included it. Thanks!
Accidentally you just discover the best SURFING KITE ever, as I was suspecting. Had Ocean rodeo lower it's price it would dominate the kite surfboard arena. Great review as always, I wonder who writes your scripts.
Thx for the kind words Claudio. Who writes my scripts??? Lol, here’s the way this complex operation goes: I write, film, edit, and then beg my wife to film me briefly if I need a shot of me riding 😂.
Great review! Ordered 7m Roam for high winds on hydrofoil. When it is 20+mph, it's gusty here. So looks like Roam will fit perfectly. For low winds, I currently fly 12m Ultra but wouldn't mind something even lighter. I'm debating between 12m Aluula Flite or a single skin like Firefly (which is easily water relaunchable, unlike your Peak). I don't want "normal" foil kite as I had a few over years and every time I hated how slow they are. No more.
Sounds great Max. Let me know how you like the Firefly if you get it. The 7m Roam will be great in those conditions just don’t expect it to have much “grunt” but will have phenomenal upper end.
Thanks Eric, one of my first comparison videos was comparison of the Flysurfer Soul Vs. the Ozone Hyperlink, but you're right...there's other options out there now to compare.
This is the most comprehensive review on both kites that I’ve watched. Well done! Would love to get your review on the new EVO SLS please. Thanks again! I do own a 7, 9, and 12m Souls. And I love them! I also own an OR 17m Aluula Flite. Floats in 5mph. Amazing light wind kite. However, I’m more partial to my Souls! I have a 10m ozone Alpha that I bought specifically for learning how to foil. It’s a great kite. Floats in the lightest of winds and turns and relaunches easily.
Wondering if you have tested the Duotone Mono for kitefoiling. I am currently considering a switch from Roam A for a variety of reasons. Wondering if the Mono will work as well.. considering quiver from 3.5 thru 11m. Currenlty have 4m-12m Roam A. Thanks for any info or if you know of a recent honest review elsewhere. Enjoy your videos...keep it up!! Cheers
Very thorough comparison & review; however, after about half a year of foiling with the 10m Aluula Roam, I strongly disagree with Kyle's assessment that the Aluula Roam "sits very deep in the wind window". Everything else I completely agree with, particularly the incredible top end and ease of handling when foiling in strong wind. But sheet this kite out a little bit in really light air and it flies right out to the wind-window's edge IMO.
Are you sure you're not speaking of the Flite? If I had to give one flying characteristic of the Roam, it would be "It sits deep in the wind window". Thanks for the kind words on the review though.
@@TheOKKiteboarder Kyle - I've flown a 12m Aluula Flite twice, and own a 10m Aluula Roam, so well aware of the differences in these two models. Your "deep in the w-window" assessment doesn't gybe with most of your other comments about this kite. My guess is in really light air your A-series Roam was either over-sheeted, or the dramatic shifting aft of the wind window's edge when board-speed in close to or exceeds windspeed was not taken into consideration.
@@TheOKKiteboarder I own a 10m roam as well and don't feel that it sits deep in the window at all, it screams upwind compared to my other kites. The boosting is also different than other kites because it's so reactive. Took a number of sessions to get high jumps but now it's my top performer.
Love my Soul 8m and 12m, two totally different kites in terms of performance, but don't really feel the need to get one in between. With that being said, I'm looking at a Sonic for high speed snow kiting, what size do you recommend?
I have to agree with everyone else, great review. I do have one question, did you get a chance to test the front stall in low wind (running under the kite) for either kite? Thanks
Agree, current BRM Clouds have better drift from greater ability to turn on or off drag from luffing, but Aluula Roams are very close in drift, and have spectacular control if/when the wind picks up. One 10m Aluula Roam so easy to foil on over the whole wind - range of 6, 8, & 10 Clouds.
@@GreKno63 Very much agree that Roam has a bigger range window than Clouds, but they are not even close in drifting chops. I rode both and hands down Clouds have more drift. In fact, more drift than any kite I know of.
I only ride strapless/waves, do not foil, and this is still one of the best kite reviews I have come across, GJ!
Thanks 🙏

Great comparison, I’ve seen one of those twin tip things on my board rack. Will stick with the foil and wave board. Way more fun 🤩
great video! would be interesting to test it out back to back with the soul
Definitely!

Mahalo, good video. What about the Aluula Flite 12m?
I'm sorry I didn't have a Flite to compare.

What about a 12m roam?

Thanks for the feedback. I was plugging my other video from a couple of years ago on “kiters elbow”. I am a physiotherapist. 👍🏻
I wonder what the lengths of lines and the sizes of bars were with both kites?
55cm and 20m lines on Roam, 49cm and 22m on Neo.

I think he said you cannot out run the alula due to it's drift

I went over to the dark side, but no more. Tube 4 me.

Can you tell Bar size and lines length on every kite?
55cm and 20m lines on Roam, 49cm and 22m on Neo.
