If I’m out camping I do my veggies in a camp oven as well. With potatoes done wrapped in foil and put in the coals 👍 and for gravy I use some of juices and Maggi rich gravy mix it’s the bomb a bit hard to find I get it from Campbells👍
Yes yes the trivet has no flavour unless you Ironman LOL . Jokes aside this is a great post and thank you for sharing. Simplicity at its best for the food of kings. Take care and God Bless.
Scoot, you’ve outdone yaself here and I can never resist a slice while slicing...!! I’ve never cooked in a camp 🏕 oven above ground like these with the beads as usually like fire ‘n coals on/ underground ... nothing better than these slow cooked meals while camping innit?!
Scooterfox next time we go camping I will be lugging a backpack full of lamb legs up any mountain we may come across whilst towing the camp oven behind me . . . .my mouth was totally watering !
This is what makes it like the oven in your kitchen. The lid heats through contact and acts like a heating element so that the heat radiates from the lid down. You can bake anything in it, bread, cakes or whatever and adapt any recipe. You can find a formula online (Lodge has one) for number of beads below vs beads above to get the right temperature if you know the diameter of your camp oven. If you have the right amount of liquid then you can treat it like a pot roast on the stove (so don't need coals on the lid) but for baking you need the heat on top or you will put too many on the bottom and burn your food
Very nice! Now I'm going to have to try that.
love lamb! followed you from Grego mate! keep at it
Well done I use my oven quiet often when I’m out west of longreach caretaking cheers just had to subscribe 👍🍻🇦🇺
Great idea with the DIY onion trivet. Enjoyed the video!

Dang that looks so easy and so good!
What rub did you end up using mate?
Nice feed 👌
MASTERPIECE !!!!!!
One thing I'd like to know. Which U haven't noted. Did U add more beads for the next 1.5 hrs ?
In this case I didn’t have to however it does depend on the heat beads your using keep an eye on them and top them up if need be👍
Well done champ! Looks great, did you rest the meat at all?? If not I can only imagine how tender it could be. Either way top job
Gday cob, I use the same briquettes but don't remember them ever lasting 3 hours. 🤨
The trick is to not burn them out too much when lighting them. I’ve had lower run times when I’ve left them in the chimney for too long

Lamb Roast ,Looked very Tender ..Yummo 🤟😋👍
Look at all that meat (that’s what Lacey said).🤟
Camping in the backyard is really just hanging out in the backyard. It's not camping.
Damn, that looked the goods

Yeah OK, but sorry mate, Tim Bates does a much better job & has SENSATIONAL presentation. Billy.....
I don’t really get the coals on top thing, heat rises so they’re doing absolutely nothing.

@@Alex-zs4vb2lt5c apparently it does something since everyone does it , I’ll have to try it for myself.
