  • We visited Torbjörn Von Braun and his team and had a closer look at the magnificent concept creation of the iconic Volvo P1800, which he named "The Saint". We talked about cars, history, his vision and ambition and we're shown some of the process creating this car. A very skilled and industrious team at Von Braun Sportscars that spreads a lot of positive energy around their work.

What an amazing car, but can’t help thinking about those dangerous seats. It looks like a headrest (neck saver) for a very short person. Unless the seat back would be extended to position the headrest in a useful position, I’d have to say no to the seats. I’m sure they are comfy and they look great, but no thanks. Otherwise in total awe.
PS did. my own restomod P1800 in the early 1980’s. Obviously nowhere near this car’s detail and implementation of technology.

@@olewurtz7625 I think you can adjust the headrest but they were OK, a bit tough and hard I must admit, but very cool and elegant. You can choose if you want other seats to this creation. Will get back to this model later this year I hope. Thanks for watching 🙏

I like it to a point! I had one....a 1965 model in the original grey and red interior....used it as my everyday car in central London. Loved it!!! The back seat was actually very useful ...one person only really but folded it had great storage and the boot was large! The shocks don't need to be seen really...prefer the park shelf myself. Gorgeous styling on the P1800 and 1800S by Frau. Good to see people appreciating it...I miss mine.

I much prefer this interpretation as opposed to the Cyan, but I believe that each car has a different purpose which ultimately defined their respective approach. I own both 1800 versions (1971 1800E / 1972 1800ES) and when I do restomod them, they will be done in that vein...one for spirited drives while the other more a grand tourer. Watching your progress with keen interest. Amazing work!

The Cyan is a very clean car, there’s nothing on it that doesn’t need to be on it, the Saint is not, it’s got all sorts of bits and bobs, I think there are too many details. The Cyan will age well, the Saint will look a bit meh in 20 years time.

I have a p1800s and really liked what Cyan have done...they actually made it better looking by widening it and reducing the fin height. However this car is true to the original shape. I am very temped to mildly mod my p1800s.....they really are very slow and that engine is so heavy and each door approx 35kgs....but they do have a racing pedigree....daytona 1966 13th place behind the winng Ford GT 40 of Ken Miles Ford v Ferrari fame..... that result was based on not breaking down and having to stop less often for fuel than far faster cars....would love Saint to produce a more road spec version. I love the styling all bar the side skirts......which let down the rest of the styling.. they look like an after thought... better with out them or much reduced version. Would like to see video of driving the car.....also I love double clutch gearboxes but you need a manual option.....like the Cyan had....but what a fantastic team and living the dream. Totally agree with back seats in 911...which have allowed purchases which would have been vetoed by wife and children. That is why I have. P1800s....instead of 240z! Will keep watch for updates.
    Thanks
    Martin
