All the staff & doctors look so competent & caring. I agree with the comment abt the procedure, it's def not a lobotomy, & I have no clue as what her procedure is/was called. I hope she had a healthy life. Amazing.

Does anyone know what surgery would have been done on this patient? I can't seem to find any information...

Reading the description above with the "small scar," I was expecting to see something towards the front of her head indicating a lobotomy of some type had been performed but that was not the case. In those days, most lobotomies were frontal or transorbital, and impacted the frontal lobes of the brain, where they believed abnormal behavior initiated. A transorbital lobotomy would have left scars radiating from the upper eye socket, whereas the standard lobotomy would have left scars on the side and or top of the front part of the skull. I didn't see either in the x-rays. I'm not certain of the surgical procedure used here, either.

@@randallrileyit has nothing whatsoever to do with surgery. It's really being too stupid to do surgery on the patient of Hysteria. It's a psychological disease.

@@randallrileyI thought she had an ice pick lobotomy when I saw how dark her eye lids were but now I'm not so sure

@@randallrileyMaybe they drilled a hole into her head? They used to do that back then too

A bit late to the party. I am going to preface this with I am not a doctor just very interested in medical history but if I had to take a stab at the procedure she had it my guess would be a corpus callosotomy. It's usually a last resort procedure in cases of severe epilepsy and iirc the procedure was first performed somewhere between 1938-1942 , in this procedure they disconnect the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Though again not a doctor this is just my guess. Side note though, an interesting but some what rare side effect of the corpus callosotomy is alien hand syndrome.

    Hello🐕🐕🐕🐧🐧🐧🐕🐶, 🐦
God the Father loves you so much that He sent Holy and Sinless Jesus (His Holy Son) to earth to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on a cross for our sins. He was in the tomb for 3 days, then Father God raised Jesus Christ (Y'shua) to Life! He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must receive Jesus sincerely to be God's childJohn 1:12. "But as many as received Him, to them He gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that BELIEVE on HIS name." That is great news! Will you sincerely receive Holy, Lord Jesus into your life today?
