She must really trust him. If you're wondering why she always chooses him as her partner it's because he is reliable. I'm a dancer myself and I had a partner I trusted with my life because he made me feel safe and didn't hesitate when doing lifts or tricks. If you pay attention, you can notice the other dancers hesitating and wobbling a lot when he's not around and she doesn't seem to be as comfortable. That's because she doesn't trust them to handle her appropriately, and that's not to say they are bad partners, they're just not Sunmi's partners. I actually don't see the "romantic" tension everybody is talking about, just the love, trust and respect of two fellow partners.

He's definitely her go-to guy for any sort of dance that might be awkward, like when she steps on him during Gashina and jumps onto his thighs in Tail. But, that lift at 5:07 made me catch my breath because if they're not in sync, he could drop her. His consistency is why she keeps going back to him. People want to see romance because they're both attractive, but this is a great working relationship. No need to add romance to it.

It would actually be easier for idols to date their backup dancers. They're always around each other, so they can date within the same buildings and no one would know. And paparazzi doesn't stalk backup dancers like they do other idols. I'm sure it's happened before, the public just doesn't find out. It's just a bit sad they have to date within practice rooms as opposed to normal dating spots if they don't wanna get caught.
