Thanks for the video - I have the same adapter and this was really helpful to get the jumpers sorted. However I still have a problem unfortunately - the only compact flash card I have that is recognised by the A5000 appears in both Master and Slave position on the Disk screen, where you do "Disk" -> F5. If I remove the master/slave jumper, or put it in the other position, nothing shows up, but when it's in the Master position like this video, I see the name of the card and size in both positions. I'm trying to format it anyway in case this is a minor glitch but I've left it for hours with the progress metronome and nothing happened, indicating to me it's not actually formatting. Maybe worth noting the card is a 32GB one (both the 8GB cards I tried were not recognised) - any tips? I'm ordering a Transcend card like you used, hopefully that will work...

Great Video! Do you use FlashFloppy firmware for the gotek?

Danke. Darf ich zu Plasmonic eine Frage stellen? Oder besser unter dem Plasmonic Video?

Sicher! Fühlen Sie sich frei, im Plasmonic-Video zu fragen, falls Ihre Frage anderen Zuschauern helfen könnte. Danke.

Thanks for the video, I’ll be doing this in the near future! With the single pin jumpers on the Gotek, I take it those are just for the encoder / display?

Hi Aaron, yes I believe for the display and led. I'm still getting to grips with the Gotek and will make a video soon going over the main functions.

Great video! I am considering the A5000 as my first sampler (probably crazy, I know). There are 3 things that worry me though:
    1) the operating system looks really difficult to me and I could not find any video on RUclips about the actual sampling/editing/mangling process. Could you consider, if you have any spare time, to do a video on the workflow?
    2) There are many people reportibg faulty encoders. What's your experience with them?
    3) How did the USB floppy emulatore work out? How did it improve the overall functionality of the machine?
    Thanks for your time!

      Thanks! To answer your questions:
1)The A5000 is actually a very easy sampler to navigate through. Don't let the small display scare you. Once you understand how to navigate through the front panel, it's really straight forward. I'm in the process of creating a series of tutorials, beginning with a general overview, sampling, synthesis capabilities, and using the gotek floppy emu.
      2) Yes, the encoders on the A Series samplers are notoriously bad. The only fixes that I know of are replacing the encoders with new ones or using contact cleaner. I'm currently in the process of making an encoder fix tutorial using Deoxit so that should be up soon.
      3) The gotek works great. Not having to use floppies is always an improvement but you're still limited to the size of samples you can use in a floppy image which is 1.4mb. That may not seem like a lot if you're using something like Kontakt, but you can do quite a bit within that limitation. For any samples longer than that, you'll need to sample directly into the A5000 and make sure you have enough RAM to support large sampling times. You can max out the A5000 at 128mb of RAM but 64mb should be plenty. RAM for vintage samplers can get a little expensive, so if you do buy an A5000 make sure you check first to see how much it comes installed with. The A5000 by default comes with 4mb of built in RAM, so if you don't have any installed, that'll give you about 23 seconds of sampling time in stereo. Again, may not seem like a lot but you can make entire tracks just using that.
Let me know if you decide to pull the trigger on one and feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Cheers!

@@aymatorg yeah I agree! I have an A4000 and it's a fantastic sampler even for beginners. It's also one of the best samplers ever made, hands down. You can't go wrong with it!

1 Question: Is the jumper set to 5V or 3.3V?

Many thanks for a great video...Having trouble here with my A4000 and a CF adaptor. Jumpers are both in the 1 to 2 position but drive not recognised. Using a Sandisk 4GB Ultyra 30mb/s. Anyone get that card to work?
