The reality is most of us could destroy dogs…but with the owner fighting too we’re toast. In training you’re probably perfectly fine (unless the dog hits your eye, arteries somehow, or a sensitive area)
Am a student and looking to get one , actually mainly need it as a pet but also as a guard dog due to high crime rate here. But there’s no way I can train it for protection around here .so can they still serve as guard dog without any form of protection training?
Do not do this. Your dog will end up put down. Dobermans are high energy breeds and will bond to those it’s protecting and no one else. If you don’t have a family, it means just you. Your dog will end up biting someone without proper training. Add 2 hours a day of genuine exercise (not just walks) for the first 4-8 years. And constant stimulation because they’re smart. Slack off on training? You’ll have to start over and then it’s twice as hard because they’re smart.
This is extremely intense training because they learn how to manage their threshold. If an untrained dog was doing this they would probably attack. But this dog is trained and knows and trusts his owner to make the decision.
Dobes are amazingly obedient. note the hackles we're not raised. A seriously concerned Doberman will look like a razor back hog with hackles up from stem to stern.
Yeah, if you ever get to see a Doberman truly engage, hair will be up and they won’t be barking much, just ripping and tearing flesh at a fast rate. There is a very good reason to not F around with one. Dobermans are insanely fast at crippling a threat.
That's an American Doberman. There is an English Doberman breed as well. The English variety is a bit more heavy and preferred as a "family" protection dog because their temperament is a bit less "nippy"
@@gabstheripper4500 LOL English? You mean European. The two types are American and European. Please don’t try to educate people when you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Why the hell are you using a prong collar to pull the dog? If you want to use one, fine, but by pulling it you are punishing the aggressive behavior, which should be encouraged instead of punished. Plus, it hurts the dog for no reason. Just put something comfortable on the dog.
I don’t know anything so my question is , if your plan is to have him lunge and bark do you gotta have him choking around the neck like wouldn’t it be okay to use a harness situation?
@@Niilo2.2 not really the choking but the idea that by choking it that you are telling him no by causing him discomfort. I would just assume that a harness would hold him but cause no discomfort as to not tell him no in any way.
@AJT European Dobermans Breeding & Training Ohh, I've never heard of that type of training collar before so it assumed it was a metal prong from from what I could see ovo; Still a choke collar tho so it doesn't seem fair to me use on him here- unless that's your only way to snap him out of that mode he gets into? You say he's fully trained tho so that's why I'm confused as well- but I can also understand that you might have wanted to ensure the other person's safety since they weren't wearing any sleaves buy using a collar that could reel him back to you just in case he didn't mind when you say everything's over
I agree. I've never even thought of using a prong collar and I can almost guarantee my dog is stronger than this dog. There's no need especially when doing this type of training.
great dog but not so great on you for letting your kids another the dog like that. it for sure was tolerant of it but i wouldn’t put full trust still a stressful behavior for the dog
At the very end we see the Dobbie hide behind his owner so wtf? So much for a protection dog 🤣 he thinks they were playing and said "Imma tag you in now"
@@sophiebell4758 I have never seen this before, however there is a slight chance you are right. Appears to retreat behind on command. This is VERY, VERY un-Doberman like. Must have been trained that way. Dobermans STAY in between the threat and it's person, period. You don't even need to train that.
@@theroller5673 exactly. I thought the point of training any dog for protection was to recognize a threat and what to do, period. Not what they think you'd want them to do in that scenario.
Okay, I’m sure that there is 100’s of hours of training in this dog and this short video doesn’t show us very much. With that being said 50% of untrained “pet” dogs would react the same way if a stranger ran up on their owner yelling and waving a stick. I’m not taking anything away from this dog, I’m just stating that this video doesn’t show his capabilities very well. If your trying to sell protection dogs, people want to see real world scenarios without a decoy waving and agitation stick. Hidden sleeves and muzzle attacks in public places with multiple distractions that’s how you sell top priced dogs.
That prong is going to destroy your dog's neck, if hasn't already. They're made to prevent pulling, NOT for dogs that pull and lunge. It's also set way too low on the neck, ensuring even more that it will do more damage. "Professionals" my ass, you people shouldn't own dogs.
Truly it comes down to the owner’s decision and you should respect that. This dog right here is doing protection training and needs to have the ears/tails docked because if they don’t the tail can break off and cause way more pain. If owners chose to dock their dog’s ears/tails they should do it while the dog is still young to minimize pain though.
Most breeders do it before you even get the dog. In America your dog can’t even compete unless it makes “breed” standards as well. I agree it’s a bit fucked, but for some people it’s the only option if you want one.
@@yerintaem then you should respect my decision to cut off half my sons ears and his penis to make him look more aesthetic Ah yeah the protection argument. Tell that to all the policedogs who have their tails cut off. Of wait they dont. Dobermans tails are bred to be curved upwards for exactly that reason.
