Thank you for this, I have a psychiatry appointment in 2 weeks, and am very anxious about it, I think I'm going to use this video to make a notes sheet for the appointment so I can answer everything well, and have all my thoughts gathered. Very useful to know what's expected to be asked about, I feel more prepared ty
This is the most complete video about the topic I found. Thanks for all the information. I’m having my first appointment tomorrow and I was very nervous before. Your video helped me a lot with those fears
i watch this before i make an appointment, and i already cried. go alone to heal my own self is hard, but thank you for your video, it helped a lot. i really wanted to be "healthy" :) send love to others who suffer🌹
I am so glad to hear this video helped you. Yes, seeking care for mental health is definitely a challenge. I am glad you are taking this step. Thanks so much for watching :)
@@n.o.atheexplorer it went well! I had 12 pages of notes that I read through. The consultant was impressed with how organized I was! Made it easier for both of us. Thanks again!
This was such a helpful video. The fact it’s so recent compared to lots of the “popular” videos online helps a bunch too. Im seeing a psychiatrist for EUPD/BPD that can be so complex so knowing your top three things you’d like yo talk about in your first meeting was a really great tip!
Have my first every appointment today. I am mortified about having to talk to another person about my issues, and was terrified that the appointment would be too open ended because I prefer things to be structured so that I don't spiral. This video really helped in calming down a bit, although I kind of wish I was seeing you as my psychiatrist lol.
I am a trauma therapist and this video is perfect for me to send to my clients who may be apprehensive about going to see a psychiatrist, so thank you!
Glad I could help! If you have any video suggestions please let me know. Especially if it's questions your patient keep asking and I can help answer (in general terms of course) but happy to help! Thanks for watching.
It is currently 4am and I am feeling extremely nervous about seeing the psychiatrist in the afternoon. Basically I got an early appointment because of some connections and I'm really worried that I'm just gonna waste his time. So I'm just looking at how to prepare for it so that I minimize my chances of wasting his time. Thank you so much for the video, it's the best one I've seen so far!
Thank you this was very helpful for both me and my partner! He's meeting his first psychiatrist next month and was looking for tips for first meetings!
Lovely! I am glad to hear this. I filmed this video for this very reason. If you have any other questions, please let me know. I am thinking of filming a Q&A companion to this video and will answer all the questions everyone has asked since this video aired. Thanks again!
I had one Psych appt. I thought it was great, then I went in for 2nd. I had psych changed and they had no info on me. I have found that asking for medical help has caused me more anxiety and depression. When depressed, it's hard to ask about side effects. You figure everything will continue to F up your life. Now my life is piled with medical bills and I have lost my job. This is why people jump off bridges. (But not your video, you seem nice).
I am so sorry this happened to you. Please don't let it dissuade you from seeing other providers. some places offer free or sliding scale mental health services. if that's available in your area.
Thank you so much for making this video! I have my first appointment tomorrow, very anxious and scared. But you have made me feel so much better about it! ❤
Turn to bible and allow CHRIST to be your therapist, psychologist and psychiatrist. No man nor women fits to be one. All are sinners and without glory, all are tempted and suffer the same. All are expected to REPENT AND BORN AGAIN, to LIVE HOLY AND GO AND SIN NO MORE. All are weak in the daily fight between their spirit and flesh. All these therapist, psychologist and psychiatrist, this world provides, can do is: to deceive and steal. They deceived you through all these “diagnoses” and they steal your money, through all the pills which you “need”. In short: they poison your mind and your overall health, leaving you with neither one. Therapist, Psychologist and Psychiatrist = Field where no human soul, never ever going to fit of being an help, no matter the among of years spend in “medical schools” or the decree gotten from there. ALL of us are daily deceived, no matter the walks of life.
I want to ask about my experience I went to see psychologist it was first time after she refers me to psychiatric nxt day when I get ther I fill up the form, and before we start session I was asked to pay. After that I was asked how can we help you and I mentioned what my problem is and why I am here, I was the one leading talking that I have illusion, I have assumption I think it is anxiety or depression after that I was given questions to answer that might correspond with the symptoms I have and I did answer all of those questions. The Dr then decided to write prisciption for me for the medication I have to buy, she said to any pharmacy or chemistry. She was busy with her phone while I was talking and she hold calls while I am talking. She didn't asked me about my history of mental illness or how was my childhood how I grew up to get as much information before she can decide to give me priscription. I did not but medication so I want to ask if, is it the way the psychiatrist works or with the first time patient.
I'm sorry that has been your experience because that's not usually how it goes especially as an outpatient (outside the hospital). If you don't feel heard, please find a different doctor if you can! In my videos I try to give general information but everyone practices differently.
No, not always! sometimes we do not make a diagnosis because we do not have enough information to do so. and we do not always prescribe a medication if we feel it is not needed or the patient does not want any medications. thanks for watching!
That would be between you and your psychiatrist. The more information we have, the more we can help. I typically ask why someone does not want to share but I don't probe if you decide not to. We usually just document that you did not share the information or answer the question and that's it. As long as the information asked is not about imminent risk of harm to yourself or anyone else. Again, it's between you and your psychiatrist to come to a decision. Thanks for watching!
I can't give specific medical advice here but I can speak in general terms. Most people go in with questions written down so they don't forget their questions. So writing down notes or things to say/ask is always helpful. You can also ask for a print out after the visit which most doctor's office do but you can ask for yours to have specific instructions for you as well. Glad you are taking this step for your health! Good luck!
That will depend on each physician if they write those letters. In my training we do not write them because we cannot certify that the animal is trained so we will ask folks to go to a center that can actually see the animal and make sure it is trained. Then that center can write the letter.
This depends on the individual and their psychiatrist. On the specific conversations they have. I can do another video on general things we consider regarding suicide but it really depends on what you discuss with your physician.
my first visit on next monday kinda nervous

Are they able to write letter for emotional support animal?
That will depend on each physician if they write those letters. In my training we do not write them because we cannot certify that the animal is trained so we will ask folks to go to a center that can actually see the animal and make sure it is trained. Then that center can write the letter.
What happens when you say yes to hallucinations and suicides thoughts do yall guys arrest the person ??????
This depends on the individual and their psychiatrist. On the specific conversations they have. I can do another video on general things we consider regarding suicide but it really depends on what you discuss with your physician.
Too much questions,
When will you start giving treatment?
The questions are to help guide treatment recommendations. thanks for watching
