“When I stood before the Emperor and asked for his guidance, the Master of Mankind was silent. He had no wisdom and no purpose for me, no role for me to fill. I could become whatever I wanted. And so I became the Savior of Mankind.”
Funnily enough this has actually really helped me accept Primaris marines as an addition to the lore. I always though of them as non-grimdark, breaking the stagnant technology of the Imperium and giving new hope, plus I always hated their helmet design. But I think now I see them for what they are. They are the Great Crusade 2.0 the Imperiums last push against the horrors of the Galaxy, not a replacement of the Emperors creations but reinforcements that lack the experience of the Emperors finest but make up for that in shear strength and power. As long as firstborn don’t get outright replaced (which is pretty close with almost every character becoming primaris) I think I might actually consider making a Primaris army.
nah I've no idea how you reconcile these Primaris newcomers being straight-up better in every way than the "firstborn". The only thing they lack is experience - as if this downside isn't temporary. They're not equals to space marines, they're superiors. If you had any level of fondness to firstborn space marines you'd hate the primaris and their autistic / tone-deaf inclusion into 40k
Not to mention, the primaris aren't being "replaced". All the characters that are becoming primaris are crossing the Rubicon Primaris, which as far as I'm aware upgrades them, not replaces them. Then again, I don't have much knowledge so maybe I'm wrong.
@@Warmhammer You’re right it does upgrade them! Which is both a positive and a negative. While it means we get to “keep” all the named characters instead of them having to make a bunch of new Primaris ones. It still means that there will be a point in the future when there are no firstborn space marines in Warhammer 40,000. So they are still being replaced (in universe they’re still being replaced as-well because most chapters will still have 1,000+ firstborn space marines and firstborn scouts so in order to keep in line with the codex astartes (and because it would be to much effort to put everyone through the rubicon) there is a push for chapters to have their firstborn marines die in combat so they can phase in the primaris marines and their scouts.
@@Sollapoke if so, then the emperor's finest have had a good run. Also, aren't veterans still a thing? Don't they get to stay firstborn, just get updated models?
@@Warmhammer eh I mean terminators are supposedly wearable by firstborn and primaris but its likely most terminator characters will become primaris and we’ll know deep down that every firstborn who dies in terminator armour will be one more closer to their extinction. This is of course unless a chapter or two or three decide not to make primaris recruits and instead keep to making firstborn scouts however I doubt gw will ever write about a chapter doing this so it would be purely speculative. Edit: as for the other vets. Sternguard, company heroes and bladeguard are now all Primaris and it seems very likely that vanguard vets will become primaris as well.
