Just when I think they’re at the top of the technology curve for drones, this behemoth comes out. DJI genuinely seem like they make the products FOR their customers and take into account what they need and want, as opposed to Sony, for example, who seem to change their tune every other release.
But the mavic 3series had lots of problems. Sure it is the best foldable drone on paper, but DJI seems to have ditched supporting it all along and selling problematic drones to customers. I like how DJI is doing new tech, but I don't really like how they treat old customers.

The Inspire 3 is definitely not a drone for everyone. In my opinion, it is a high-end professional drone. Anyone with one should be very careful and concerned if it crashes or gets damaged. Thanks for making this. My I3 should ship next week. Your video cleared up several questions. One that had not been resolved with DJI Tech Support was "would the High Bright monitor with Ronin Side-grip handles communicate directly with the I3 or would you have to use the Transmission transmitter?". Thankfully, as I already have the HBM&RSH you answered the question = Yes, it will "go" direct. I also bought the RTK and watched your testing with considerable interest. I expect to be able to fly in places that with GNSS alone would be iffy at best. Keep up the good work.

Enterprise Pilot here, the D-RTK2 base station is notoriously bad with vertical correction, usually if you're lucky you might get 8-10cm. If you are going to be using RTK in multiple areas, then I would suggest pre-mark your spots, use a template mask to spray paint a dot, or put a nail in the ground to put the center of that black rod on, basically like a surveyor does. It needs to be EXACTLY on that spot, so using a nail may be your best option, if you need to replicate shots over multiple days where you need to take down the D-RKT2. Then when you are going to your location with the D-RTK2 you can place it on those spots. I am unsure if it would help but you should be able to enter coords into the RTK section under advanced, those cords would be the "nail" that you use a 3rd party receiver ahead of time to more accurately mark. Something like the Emlid RS2+, is an inexpensive option $2600, it cannot be used instead of a D-RKT2 but it might help. It's hard to know w/o testing and so many other things can affect this. Also, if you need to move the D-RKT2, I have found it is better to power it off, move it, then power it back on. It seems to get a lock faster that way then if you move it while it is on as it freaks out and will give you that Sudden RKT positioning error and can sometimes get stuck in that mode for a while. Also, even bumping the D-RTK2 slightly will cause it to freak out. Lastly, we are currently in an active period of sun spots and if you need really solid GPS, then check the UAV Forecast app and make sure the KP rating is 3 or less. You might be ok up to 5-6 but once you are past 6 you could have some really weird GPS errors. We've already had several KP9 events this year and I wouldn't even fly a drone under those conditions. Thankfully they are rare and only last a few hours. FYI: Sunspots send solar winds, electromagnetic waves that arrive at the Earth a few days later and they can cause the atmosphere to ionize which can cause GPS errors. D-RTK2 mobile base station, works with M3E, M3T, M3M, Phantom4 RTK, M300 RTK, M350 RTK, Agras T10, T20, T30, T40, M210 RTK, and your Inspire3 and some other legacy DJI drones as well. CORS Network is the NTRIP and its dependent on the state you are in, this would allow you to potentially use that instead of using a D-RTK2 Base Station. Finally, if you have any RTK related questions that I didn't cover or want to chat about it further you can reach out to me directly, Ashley at MaineSkyPixels com.
Would love to get you on a FaceTime for the follow up video. You available and interested? Sounds like you really know what you're talking about! I'll send an email. Thanks for the helpful info!
You forgot the absolute worst part about the D-RTK2. If you power it off and then on again it will get a new base location even if the base has not been moved. This base location is derived by averaging "normal gps" over a certain time but errors of half a meter or so between different power cycles are absolutely possible. This is the main problem with the D-RTK2 especially since you can't hot swap batteries. Best practice therefore is to get the approximate position, note the coordinates down and then set the base location manually. PS. has been like 2 years since I worked with the D-RTK2 and maybe they changed the default settings but that thing is an absolute Piece of shit anyway. Furthermore something like an Emlid RS2+ can absolutely be used as base station instead of the D-RTK2, you just need to stream NTRIP to the drone over a hotspot.
I received my I3, RTK, Transmission Combo gear and I am super-pleased. Amazingly enough, everything I've tried works! It flies great, the image quality is super. RTK makes Tripod mode look like...well, a tripod shot!!! Waypoint Pro works nice. Spotlight Pro is way better at recognizing people and cars than it is at random objects. For example, I took the bag for my landing pad and used Spotlight Pro to move all around it. It is hard, even though orange on grass is high contrast, to get I3 to recognize the object but, once you do, it works great. I have ordered more batteries (6 original, 2 more with base order, just ordered 2 more). 10 should allow a decent bit of work before charging becomes an issue. I haven't measured flight times yet but they seem to be very workable. Overall, WOW!
I know about 3% of the lingo and 0% about film making, watched from start to finish and now cannot wait to start down the drone photography road from this point. Great engaging video that I will revisit when I understand a bit more. Good work.

Jeez man That opening shot. Yausa. And even before I watched any of this video, that little ProRes RAW in the corner usually means a LOT of trouble editing and exporting.
Finally what I've been needing to see! Mine ships in 3 days!!! Thanks for all your hard work and yes, you always need to wear comms when in the same car! ;)
Bummer... you make such great content that actually has value and you're not sitting just in a room reacting to videos on RUclips... and you have not even 500k subscribers. Others have like 2 Million + and just do the bare minimum and even get the viewers to provide ideas for new "content". End of personal rant. :-) Keep doing what you're doing, learned a lot from you and others that actually show and teach. Thank you from the bottom of my rotten heart and continue to blast. Greetings from Switzerland.
ok I saw this post on instagram a while ago (Pre Inspire 3 days) and it was a hyperlapse of a skyscraper being built and it would orbit around the building as they were putting up walls and beams and you could even see the workers working as well. However it was very heavy VFX and probably took months of editing. But would love to see a similar thing copied where you capture architectural change or even landscapes changing with seasons over weeks of flights being flown again and again. I got plenty more ideas and I'd love to be an intern.
Jeeeeez dude i need this just to film my crap holliday twice a year the way you sold this, jokes asides awesome stuff and more respect for movie makers and cam pilots!!

Well... That was a huge pile of work to get this video together. The one thing I would have loved to see is that last few seconds where you mentioned how expensive it seemed when you looked at your Inspire 2 and mentioning it paid for itself. With all the extras you have shown in this video a summary table of the whole cost would have been nice.
Awesome. Just awesome. Lots of info in this session. since it's really great accuracy I could see a great benefit of doing a RTK Hyperlapse. One of the issues I found is the bobbling of photos from the 1 meter GPS accuracy. Super still days are not available much especially with great sun. Yes, we can edit this out, but with RTK I think the programmed flight with that level of accuracy on a sunset over any water, building etc would be super. I love the lack of noise the I3 would have in lower light and look forward to this as well as a ton of stuff on this machine. Cost is a big gulp..ha.
I have an idea for a shot/sequence with the RTK thing. Whether it’s possible, legal or doable is another thing or even if it’s a good or rubbish idea!. I just thought finding one of those big wheels like the London eye (but in America obviously) and as it’s rotating fly the drone like through the structure of the rotating wheel, but not just in and out but kind of vertically if that makes sense, around the pods, loop around it!. Insurance would probably be like nope not happening. But it could be cool because the movement rotation of the big wheel/ferries wheel and then the movement of the drone could be pretty dynamic.
So you basically got paid $16,499 (drone) + $979 (RAW license) for a 10 minute video? Your business skills are as off the charts as your creativity apparently! Thanks for these killer videos, makes me jealous, I'd love to get my hands on this drone.
Josh this is WILD! If I had any reason to buy this, I totally would. The truth is, for my bullshit little home movies, their other, much cheaper products meet all my needs, LOL. But damn this thing is CRAY CRAY. Maybe you were just being facetious but I wonder why they didn't include the necessary audio components to make it Netflix approved?! Surely it wouldn't have added too much to the cost.... Shit man, if I ever hit the lotto, this will be my new home movie drone haha. Great review, informative and beautifully done as per usual!
Ya know, part of the reason why i do these over the top videos is because I know, MNAY of you guys cannot afford this. Hell if I wasn't a RUclips, I would have a hard time justifying this drone. But, its nice to fully explore these expensive drones, and for many of the pros that might not buy one but work with one on set or rent one, its a good video to show its capabilities.
@@princesfpvdrones yes. The X7 lenses are compatible and are FULL FRAME, except the 16mm. the 16mm mount fits but its super 35 and does not have focus control. so hopefully DJI will give firmware update for that one lens.
RTK is NOT an additional GNSS system. RTK makes use of the existing GNSS systems by comparing a known position at a base station with that of the drone or rover. As the base station doesn't move, the error between the known position and the computed position can be calculated. Assuming the base and rover are close enough together they can be also be assumed to experience the same GNSS error. Since the error at the base is now known, it can be communicated to the rover and subtracted from the GNSS position of the rover, giving a similar level of precision as the base. This takes place in real time, hence Real Time Kinematics.

Holy crap. This thing is insane.
dude it might be my new vlog camera set up. more dynamic range and resolution than sSa1. bahahahha
Love it! Thanks for the feedback!
The B roll is hypnotizing
I know about 3% of the lingo and 0% about film making, watched from start to finish and now cannot wait to start down the drone photography road from this point. Great engaging video that I will revisit when I understand a bit more. Good work.
What a sick video dude. I wish I didn’t want one of these as much as I do now.
this is insane!! incredibly useful , huuuge effort was really apperciated man, also watchinng this on 8k is mind blowing . this is waay better thann most of the aerial shots on netflix lol
How you're not at 1 Million subscribers yet is beyond me.
Same it’s such a nice channel
i can get over that you actually a full film with just the Inspire 3 not to mention that dynamic range
Dope video! Network RTK is a super cool capability
Awesome in depth video 🙏🏼❤️ Thank you for the interesting insides!
Jeez man
That opening shot. Yausa.
And even before I watched any of this video, that little ProRes RAW in the corner usually means a LOT of trouble editing and exporting.
As always INSPIRING❗️ (pun intended)
Thank you for sharing this expensive gear to us mere mortals. Cheers from Western Australia 🇦🇺👍🏻
Keep doing what you're doing, learned a lot from you and others that actually show and teach. Thank you from the bottom of my rotten heart and continue to blast.
Greetings from Switzerland.
Very very very, cool system and video review! This is way outta my league, but my pipes will be dreaming all the same. Cheers man 🍻
So 16k for a drone that doesnt work at night? Seems like a pretty major oversight
ok I saw this post on instagram a while ago (Pre Inspire 3 days) and it was a hyperlapse of a skyscraper being built and it would orbit around the building as they were putting up walls and beams and you could even see the workers working as well. However it was very heavy VFX and probably took months of editing. But would love to see a similar thing copied where you capture architectural change or even landscapes changing with seasons over weeks of flights being flown again and again. I got plenty more ideas and I'd love to be an intern.
I'd love to see this as well!
The level of storytelling is is insane :)
Those repeat flights look pretty dang tight. VERY COOL!
27:00 The VFX repeat thing is pretty impressive.
DAMN. THAT 8K LOOKS GOOD!
Wow so enlightening and entertaining and you make it look so easy!
30+ minute review, uploaded in 8K. You're nuts man. NUTS.
One day I’ll have this drone . So fucking cool it literally does everything
RTK is something I dreamed about for really long Timelapse’s.
Quality is CRAZY
33 minutes of pure gold
That is so amazing!!!!
Quality is super impressive here. Sucks with the electric motor break and wondering if it was an aluminum or plastic break.
Thank you!
really appreciate the extensive testing, u got some balls of steel doing that tho
Charles, Darling.... did all the driving.
Glad to see someone take the smell test seriously, if it doesn’t smell new I don’t buy.
Just brought one for work so hopefully it shall be decent
I have an idea for a shot/sequence with the RTK thing. Whether it’s possible, legal or doable is another thing or even if it’s a good or rubbish idea!. I just thought finding one of those big wheels like the London eye (but in America obviously) and as it’s rotating fly the drone like through the structure of the rotating wheel, but not just in and out but kind of vertically if that makes sense, around the pods, loop around it!. Insurance would probably be like nope not happening. But it could be cool because the movement rotation of the big wheel/ferries wheel and then the movement of the drone could be pretty dynamic.
wow. just wow.
Fantastic review. Bravo👏👏
Was waiting for this! Let's go!
What makes me excited about these new drones is that they finally don't have to action cam look to them anymore.
HOLY SHIT DUDE. This is amazing. I mean I'm only 2 minutes in, but seriously so good already. Also the 15 stops of DR is blowing my mind.
So you basically got paid $16,499 (drone) + $979 (RAW license) for a 10 minute video? Your business skills are as off the charts as your creativity apparently! Thanks for these killer videos, makes me jealous, I'd love to get my hands on this drone.
So in depth nice one!
all this tech in this drone makes me want to get one
That inspire 3 holds so well in the road punishment test that you could strap it to a Delorean, and go back in time.
Awesome drone. 😍😍
Insanely good attention to detail! 👍🏻
Feeding in to my GAS!!! Heaps of excellent tech crammed into that machine.
Excellent content!!! Liked and subscribed.
Pretty cool! Thanks for sharing it. ✌️
set a small rebar and cap for repeatability for the RTK2 base station. I map professionally let me know if I can help.
ooooooo I like this idea. are you aligning the center pole then with the rebar? hit me up on IG, lets talk
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL reached out to you on IG
I sure hope the looming DJI ban threat doesn't brick such an awesome piece of technology!
The most fun I’ve had flying a “gps” drone in years. Almost worth freezing my a$$ off. 😅
Great vid as always, worth the wait 🤘🏼
Dude thanks for your help!!
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL So I may have missed understood at 12:27 sec you said the lenses from the Inspire 2 X7 are compatible with the Inspire 3?
@@princesfpvdrones yes. The X7 lenses are compatible and are FULL FRAME, except the 16mm. the 16mm mount fits but its super 35 and does not have focus control. so hopefully DJI will give firmware update for that one lens.
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL Wow that is great news!
How does it stack up against the Mavic 3 Pro for picture quality? In percentage terms how much better is the Inspire 3?
RTK is NOT an additional GNSS system. RTK makes use of the existing GNSS systems by comparing a known position at a base station with that of the drone or rover. As the base station doesn't move, the error between the known position and the computed position can be calculated. Assuming the base and rover are close enough together they can be also be assumed to experience the same GNSS error. Since the error at the base is now known, it can be communicated to the rover and subtracted from the GNSS position of the rover, giving a similar level of precision as the base. This takes place in real time, hence Real Time Kinematics.
谢谢你做了这么详细的评测。😄
