Another thought I've had recently is that these bread crumbs that we're following to arrive at the wise men being Nephi, Lehi, and others could be another evidence of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. To my knowledge, Joseph Smith never brought up this theory, nor did anyone else in the first 150 years or so in the history of the church. For us to now find all of the little clues, hints, and possibilities that are littered throughout the record of Nephi (the son of Helaman) shows us that it wasn't planned by Joseph Smith or even known to him. He obviously didn't write it in hopes that hundreds of years later, someone might see the little signs that no one in his time saw.

@@jeffhale5236 Right? Frauds look worse with time and study. The BoM looks better as each year and decade and century pass. And as you said, nobody Joseph didn't flaunt this or any of the other hundreds of evidences that have been discovered since, probably because he knew nothing of them.
Problem is, people can write off things like these as coincidences, of finding what you want to find. But there are just too many of them when you really take time to look.

@jeffhale5236 I'm curious your experience when you share the idea with people? Do they laugh /agree/...? For me, since it takes a while to explain and since the the breadcrumbs are spread around and not just in like one verse, it's hard to explain in person within their attention span. Part of the reason I made this is so that now I can just mention it and then send a link to this series for them to watch later if interested 😅. Then if they're not interested in hearing, I'm not like that crazy guy that's wasting your time with wacko theories. And if they are curious then they can get the whole thing.
I used to refer people to Holt's book but few if any bought the book, I thought videos, even if long, was a smaller barrier

Thank you for sharing. I've thought of this theory for the past couple of years as well. I don't think you need to get too caught up on Hagoth being the man who took Nephi, Lehi, and Samuel the Lamanite. We learn in Alma 63:11 that Nephi's uncle Corianton went to live in the land northward with the ship builders. We also know that Nephi himself went to live in the land northward with his brother Lehi for about 6 years (Alma 6:6, and Alma 7:1). The people in the land northward were the people who built many ships and it is recorded that the Book of Mormon can't contain even a hundredth part of their ship building. I think it's likely that Nephi had the records of the big ships that were built and commissioned one to be built to take him and those he chose to go with him to see the Christ child.

@@jeffhale5236 Oh this is a great insight! I hadn't considered that the ship procurement came about from his connections while traveling, but it's a good possibility. And I think Corianton is Nephi's father's uncle not Nephi's uncle but your point remains valid. Thanks for the great comment!

@@Sword_of_Laban Yeah, you're right about Corianton. He was a great uncle. Still I think that family was pretty tight and so I'm sure Nephi knew he was there and probably knew some of his second cousins when he lived with them for nine years.
