  • Here's a quick fix if you are not getting water from your dispenser. If you have no lights on your panel, find the manual and check if board behind maker is plugged in all the way.

You're a lifesaver! I tried your trick and it worked.... I didn't cover the food up, I simply left the door open for 15 minutes, wiped off some frost that was on the door part from my ice maker....and my water dispenser dripped at first, then pushed out a small frozen pearl of ice followed by flowing water. Your tip is HIGHLY APPRECIATED! Thank you very much!

Thanks. This work for my Frigidaire side by side. Twenty five minutes and I did not have to pull refrigerator out from the wall or have to take anything apart.

Thank you for the cardboard repair tip, it worked for my Samsung fridge and saved me at least £100+

Great stuff I just pretended to be cleaning around the door seal for a while while door warmed up and water started dripping out.

DUDE! Had to log in and retrieve my password (couldnt remember it) just to say... Thanks a million. I used your great idea (and someone elses idea of using a hair dryer on the door panel) then added my touch by cutting a small door flap where the door switch was so I could stick my finger in there and check it every 5 minutes with out taking off the makeshift door off. Sucess!!! Thanks again

The water line in my Frigidaire Gallery side-by-side is always freezing up. Drives me nuts and their Customer Service has no remedies at all. Zero help.
I do the same thing as this video but got some of that pink rigid insulation from Home Despot and cut a piece to size like he did with the cardboard. I tried duct taping it but it left residue on the door frame. Place it up against the opening of the freezer and leave the door open for about half an hour. That does work, but you have to constantly do this, or I did anyway. And, now the digital freezer temperature readout is fluctuating wildly on the dispenser, going from 5 degrees F to -14 degrees F. So, that's not good. I'm going to remove everything and completely thaw the fridge and freezer then restart it. I hope that fixes the temp read-out. I think it's doing that because holding in all that coldness made the freezer get way too cold. Who knows.

It worked for me as well, I left the door open for about 35 minutes, maybe I did not need to wait for that long, but I did it just in case, when I walked by the refrige after 35 minutes from the time I sealed the refrigerator using a plastic foam, did not have a big cartboard or did not want to use a blanket and needed to clean it afterwards, anyway, good job, but yeah, not sure how long before it freezes up again like Robert G. had asked below, good luck to everyone!

How long before it freezes up again?

I saw three times but can't get it. You just put the cardboard to isolate the freezer for 20-30 min; however, I did not see you open the backside of the freezer door to unclog the or to find out the clogging water hose. If you just use cardboard, how come the dispenser will be fixed?

Long- this is only for if your line is frozen. The room temp will melt the line and water can flow again
