a terrific performance and jam session in this smoky Copenhagen Montmartre Cafee. That's the kind of jazz I grew up with. Glad to have found this upload and thanks! Yes this violinist is top.
01:53 ESCALOFRIO!! .. A SHAVERS SE LE VE TAN ALEGRE Y CON TANTA ENERGIA QUIEN HIBA IMAGINAR QUE AL POCO TIEMPO HIBA FALLECER, LO MEJOR DE USA SUS MUSICOS DE JAZZ
Shit Folks! Those were the days, when musicans were musicans!! And they SMILED!! On stage when "music " were all abt! I was there! NHØP on bass! Wow, it was real cool!
Imagine drifting past that smoky cafe while on a perfect twilight stroll under a gentle canopy of raindrops, ultimately finding yourself drawn in by the sound of Webster's tenor and the allure of a cognac? Good God...does sensory pleasure get any any better than that?
Bippity Boppity Boo at 1:54 - 2:01. Finn is a fine violin soloist. NHOP's very excellent bass solo hints at the great solos he had yet to play. The film maker did a good job too.
I've always LOVED Ben's playing, but I've got to admit that Shavers was a MONSTER
trumpet player.
Absolutely fantastic recording.
Charlie Shavers and Ben Webster two legends.
And yes I love the violin in Jazz.

This must have been only months before Charle Shavers passed on. He went the same year.
He died 2 days after Satchmo. Nobody even knew he passed. Of course, he wasn't as popular as Louis but he could blow the bell off that horn.
I love this video , was there in 75 caught Dexter and Roland ,
My favorite jazz club ,is it still there ???
Thank you Marla.
Loving it .

No Florida. Ben plays a old 930's Otto Link metal Master Link mouthpiece that was refaced to about an 8 tip.
@julesmonendrumface Not if NHOP is in there pal!
Great. Regrettably Montmartre recently filed for bankruptcy due to the corona situation.
