  • A fantastic day with hosts Richard and Lyndsey in Mrytle Wood in East Sussex. l've made charcoal in a small sealed tin on a campfire before but l was keen to see a full scale production.
    The kiln provided us with slow cooked chicken for tea and l enjoyed a great overnight stay too.
    My trailcam also provided me with some great footage which l've added at the end of this video.

    A very good time out there bro. So interesting to see the charcoal process. In the Wye valley it was huge for it once. Gotta say nice setup for camp. You no doubt had a good nights rest - certainly you had a good night recording the wild life. Good going. Mark

      I did a flavour of the process because the video would have been rather long otherwise. It was fascinating to see the subtle opening and shutting of flues, swapping stacks over etc.
