Magnetic water conditioners and softeners are, indeed, a scam.

3 little magnets, no wonder we kept having to service our washing machine given how hard the water is where we live. Thank god for polyphosphate crystals. Despite having to be replaced twice yearly at least they preventi limescale and corrosion to a measurable degree...

You most definitely are not! It's just a set of little, weak, passive magnets... No wonder these "conditioners" don't work.
