"I then tried again to cause explosive diarrhoea in the tomato" "provoking an apple to have explosive diarrhoea" Sentences I never thought I'd ever hear in my life.
You should try the (sort of) opposite and inject a molten oxidizer (maybe molten chlorate or even something like OsO4) into fruits and compare the explosions.
Excellent! Some suggestions/ideas: -A longer needle would increase safety and also allow injections deeper into the fruits. -Perhaps a 90 degree bend in the needle would be good as well. -Not related to fruits, but a comparison between raw and hard boilt eggs would be of utmost scientific importance. -Could you repeat the onion trial, but inject the needle parallel to the jet outlet? Why prevent it from flying away? -How much do we have to collect to enable a meaningful trial with a water melon? As always: Keep being careful and stay safe!
This is absolutely hilarious. You've got incredible reagents that most of us would crime for, and then you were like, 'time to make fruit shit itself for our enjoyment.'. /kiss
I would never have thought I would be spending 10 minutes watching someone try to make fruit have diarrhea in probably the most expensive way possible and yet here I am. Can’t say I’m disappointed though
Try placing a tiny ampule of alkali metal inside a coconut through a drilled hole. Also place a remote triggering device alongside the ampule. Then use epoxy resin and fiber glass mesh to seal the hole. Let cure and film detonation.
6:14 Why did you inject metals into the onion wall? Most likely, it was worth using the root zone. The direction of the root's fibers would be parallel to the injection being administered. 🚀
If you want to inject more quickly and safely, try a veterinary dart. It works by compressing a spring as the syringe is pulled back and filled, then covering the needle's hole (which is in the side rather than the very tip) with a snug rubber sleeve. When the needle punctures something, the rubber sleeve slides off of the hole and gives an outlet for the contents, which are pressurized by the spring
2:45 Very cool and also interesting that the apple blew out on one of it's spots, showing that the spots may be weaker and thinner than other places of the skin, and/or the spots have less dense apple flesh behind them that lets the metal reach it first
I expect that you could get a very powerful effect with a coconut if you used a tiny drill bit, ideally one just large enough to let the syringe tip in. The explosive result could be dangerous, though, in a way somewhat different from your usual dangerous effects.
Hi Felix. I couldn’t get into PayPal for a while. They declined payment to Patron. I’ve re-joined today. Your content and efforts are much appreciated.
I think you should have drilled a much smaller hole in the coconut, just big enough to get the needle in. Then I think it may well have been the most spectacular explosion of all these. The hole you made just allowed the gasses to escape without a proper explosion.
I'm glad you wear the leather glove. I believe if you didn't that coconut could've given you 3rd° burns and I know it would've given your hand and fingers a 2nd° burn, no questions asked.
Performing such an experiment without gloves is incredibly foolish, akin to trying to collect honey from bees while wearing nothing more than shorts and a T-shirt
The best as always. If we have invented the High speed cameras for visible spectrum why we don't do it for x ray radiography? I am curious how it would be in perspective of X-Ray slow-motion!
... so remember students, whenever you wish to inject a selection of fruits with a moldten alloy of reactive alkaline metals, always use a Luer-lok(tm) -style needle.
good thing u have those gloves on. i think im seeing a couple reactions happening. obviously, first and foremost, theres a secondary thermobaric reaction. secondary is because the alkaline oxides, the oxygen is acting like a catalyst and separating the hydrogen from the water molecules along with the help of the acids that also exist. however, i noticed the alkali metals are molten hot as droplets shoot out in slow motion; red hot! some were completely in flames and vaporized. i would be interested in knowing whats causing that. is that another reaction, or is it so hot that its literally making the alkali metals sublimate?
So many humorous/ sane comments, yet so few ones wondering what these injections would do under skin, fat, or even directly into veins. One thing I know, while refilling ink cartridges, accidentally poking myself and feeling bad, was very mild.
I think you should try mixing potassium metal with various transition metal compounds like iron carbonyl or a solution of osmium tetroxide, or mercury oxides
great video, especially liked the coconut and onion. Can you do a similar video with TiCl4 sometime, I think it'll make a more spectacular explosion because of the vapour
I heard that carborane acids are strong but gentle, but what does this mean in practice? Is something that is merely an extremely strong protonator but mot much else still hazardous to contact?
Wow, that onion had some thrust!

Digestive Attack of Killer Tomatoes?
Cave Johnson would be proud of those combustible lemons

That onion-rocket clearly showed potential as a launch vehicle for the UK Space Program 🇬🇧
I was literally expecting it to fly off 😂
This man killed Bob and Larry.
Imagine if his evil twin did this to a living person.

Wow, the onion turned into a rocket. 😆
But the apple was my favorit.

My Masters’ supervisor: so what kind of research are you interested in?
Me: 😏😏
When my dad was in high school in the 50s he injected fruit with chemicals, I mean vodka to take to school for lunch.
was your grandfather roger creager? the everclear song (mix the first and second verse).
My dad did that with oranges for college football games
😂
Ethanol in fruit juice solution, yum
This gives a whole new meaning to the word Snapple (Sn+apple)
This takes the science about self defence against fresh fruit to the next level!👍
PS: If I´d be a lab glove producer I´d *BEG* to let me sponsor you.
Bonus: Your banana gets supercharged with potassium (and sodium, and...)
Please build an onion jet 😂😂
The red pepper was great. But my favorite was the banana. Happy April Fool's Day, Felicks. You even have a great sense of humor!
One of the 3 eyes on the coconut is soft. You didn't have to drill the hole in it and it probably would have worked better, maybe even explode.
any of the 3 holes can just be scraped a little bit to expose the softer inner body that would allow a needle to go through
Plum was like "Nope, not having any of that %@#$!"
This is absolutely hilarious. You've got incredible reagents that most of us would crime for, and then you were like, 'time to make fruit shit itself for our enjoyment.'. /kiss
This is also the way to say to your partner, what you don´t like eating fruit.
You make inorganic chemistry so fun to watch. Keep up the awesome work
most consistent than ever keep it up man!!

So onions are the way we are gonna populate the galaxy
F**kin' love you CF! Please never change!!!
I have to say you're one of the few channels I watch at 1x.

My 4 year really enjoyed this. She thought it looked like the stuff was pooping.
I am pooping right now.

Aww no watermelon? Nice video
Actually I suggested 🍉 😅😂 But it would be too dangerous!

"Explosive Fruit Diarrhea:" sounds like perfect title for silly indie game! Amazing video!
In this episode of Man vs. Fruit we have ... 😁😁😁😁😁😁
Very satisfying little pop with the bell pepper - fun video and nice high-speed shots!
When you really hate fruits 😂👌
Integza would say "Tomatoes are disgusting!"
This is a new execution way!
Thank you for your videos, as a scientist (Biochem) I enjoy them very much/ Love Decaborane!!
Imagine using this technique in a torture chamber
This is the high quality content I come to RUclips for
Very good news you coming here in Brazil, I apreciate your videos!
a chemist giving fruit IBS was not something I had on my 2024 bingo card but here we are I guess
Don't let Heston Blumenthal see this!!!
Have a nice trip❤
The onion was really cool. I didn’t expect so much thrust

3:07 they always say bananas are rich in potassium, but i think this one might be a winner
Are there any permissions to use this footage elsewhere? The footage would make fantastic b roll for a few school projects of mine.
I'll only be glad if you use this for educational purposes!

Can’t wait for this one
I never really knew how to open a banana but after you showed me i feel enlightened
It's XeF6 a thing?
Hmm, I wonder if this treatment might help reduce the indigestion I get after eating acidic fruits?
Integza approved. ™

I thought about this after I had filmed all the material. Maybe I'll refilm it soon.
Yes! These are the kind of mindless chemistry videos I need to watch after a long day in the lab!
A sicilian citron is the citrus with the thickest pith. Wouod be really interesting to see.
Canteloupes and watermelons next. Maybe a longer needle.

I had no idea coconuts were squirters.
In my experience, if you treat them the right way they can be 😂😂😂
Needle injector for a NaK fueled rocket. 😊
And the onion has lift off! Cool
Not the first time I have seen smoke coming out of an apple if you know what I'm saying. hahaha
🤣 I do! Good ol' apple pipe, hits great, cools the smoke, and tastes great😂. Man it's been a long time since I've done that, about 20 years lol.

I’m curious about what would happen with a dragon fruit and star fruit if one were to do this experiment
no melon? i think you missed a great opportunity here :)
I don't even like chemistry but I can't stop watching these video's 😂
This one was next level insanity ❤
Will PTFE burn with these alloys ?
all of those were great, but the onion was my favorite.
They all start with small animals, they say. And some on fruits, apparently.

The fig doesn't surprise me. It already has holes from wasps, among other things. That fruit gets around.
