Do you think this kind of welding could also be done without an intense vacuum surrounding it? Or possibly in open air (with enough energy input) ? How do you protect operators from Xrays without making the machines extremely expensive and unwieldy? Thanks for the info

I heard electron beam welding can be so good that in pieces that have subsequently failed it wasn't even in the welded sections but the solid area of the original material!

Absolutely no side fumbling. The sperving bearings must be in perfect alignment.

TIG or EBM. I actually thought EBM at first until I saw the discoloration. Damn nice job. Good enough I thought a machine did it, lol
