      If we can just draft a good edge rusher, we would be in business. Karlaftis isn't bad, but he has a long way to go to 'be that guy' we need. His run defense is mediocre, and his pass rush leaves a lot to be desired. The one positive is his motor. Dude never gives up on a play, and that's how he has made some of the good plays he hss

      @Andrew Fung I wouldn't say they have a lot of good players. They just don't have bad players. They are a bunch of average performing players with the exception of Sneed and Jones. Sometimes, those average players come up big when it matters. Other times, they are just average, and it shows. People need to remember how young the defense is. They were battling injuries early and were still trying to figure out what personnel to use when. It took them until just recently to actually put all their starters on the field AND put them in the positions they fit best. They are still not a great defense, regardless what anyone might say. They are just good enough, if that makes sense. They don't have to be incredible for KC to win. They need to do just enough to keep the game close.

      A lot of that has to do with the Chiefs offense as well. Teams want to limit KC's possessions, so they try to be slow and methodical. However, playing that way is also risky. One mistake and a possession is basically over. The Chiefs defense is going to have to bring the heat. Their front four isn't going to be enough to pressure Hurts. Adversely, the Eagles are fine running every play; which is something KC's defense has always struggled with. They are going to need to bring the heat and play downhill. That means those young DBs are going to be on islands. If Hurts is still throwing like he did against the 49ers, KC will be fine. If Hurts is back to his old form, expect a potential blowout. KC's offense is battling a lot of injuries, and the Eagles pass defense is good. Their run defense isn't great, but neither is KC's run offense. On paper, the Eagles are the perfect counter to KC. We will see if that holds true, though. What makes it worse is the head ref for the game has a long history of penalizing KC excessively. I think it was something like 20-25% of their penalties this year alone were from that head ref.

    Well when you said "Devoid of superstar talent." I immediately thought "What about Nick Bolton? What about Willie Gay? What about Sneed?" I mean Bolton is only in his second year but has been a beast in the Linebacking group and honestly deserved a Pro Bowl appearance this year

    • @faveology
      @faveology Год назад +6

      Willie Gay is overrated. He is great at position, but his tackling is so piss poor. I am a mega KC fan and watch all their games. That dude would have the RB dead to rights and just whiff. Bolton is a beast, though, but his athleticism sometimes hurts him. He will be slightly late to the gap or slightly late in his drop, and the result is giving up plays that shouldn't have happened. However, the plays where Bolton's athleticism aren't an issue, he is an absolute man amongst boys. Sneed is great as well. The only DB who consistently comes up and isn't afraid to make a tackle. He's pretty damn solid in coverage, and his blitzes are always so well done. I wouldn't call him a star by NFL standards, but he is definitely a star on the KC defense. I think that's what the guy who made the video is saying though. KC's only true superstar by NFL standards on defense is Chris Jones. Sneed, Bolton, Gay, McDuffie, etc. are bright spots, but mainly just bright spots for the KC defense. When you compare them to other players at their positions in the NFL, they aren't superstar talent.

Dallas has the number one offense when Dak got back according to the numbers this season. But it’s not just Dakota. It’s his O-Line, Running Backs, Recievers, His TE. So that’s something right. Let’s not talk about the Vikings as they are trash their offense was pretty good their defense is where they sucked at. But against that offense with not just Kirk Cousins on it. With the best receiver this season JJetas, a good running back in Dalvin Cook, a decent O-Line. We showed up did we not? Okay let’s talk about that Giants game In the playoffs who people said Philly we’re gonna lose to coming off that game against Minnesota. Philadelphia defense showed up against that “Hot Giants offense”. Against the 9ers. Philadelphia Defense showed up and don’t you dare say that Brock was gonna win that game with the pressure we were gonna apply to him all game if he did continue to play. Sure Mahomes is a better QB than all of those guys by far but this just ain’t about what Mahomes can do…Saying Mahomes is gonna beat our defense himself is ridiculous. But hey if you think the Chiefs defense is gonna show up more then Philly than that’s you. I hope the Chiefs defense can keep up with Philly offense because we know Philly damn sure can keep up with the Chiefs offense. Hurts isn't as good of a qb as burrow is but burrows lack of an oline meant that the chiefs didn't need more than a 4 man rush. Chiefs are gonna have to blitz more often if they wanna generate the same amount of pressure. And with hurts ability to run they might need to use qb spys which will take away from the pass rush. Chiefs are gonna have to use a way different gameplan on defense if they wanna slow down the eagles offense

Don’t get me wrong, dude tries to pressure the QB more often than not and having our rookie CBs try and defend top league WRs. It’s always infuriated me that defense wise he plays soft yet at the end of the season is when the brakes get cut off and we see Spags for who he is. Honestly, I’m done with the Spags hate. These rookies held a bengals offense with arguably two 1WRs with just over 200yds of offense. Impressive. Plus two picks. Chiefs secondary is only going to get more dangerous as the years progress.

    I think Spags is going to have to get creative or else the Eagles O will run them over. Eagles have the best O line in football, a mobile QB with a strong arm, 2 top deep ball threats, and 3 good RB options (with an O line that is as good at run blocking as it is in pass protection). I don't think the Chiefs can count on getting coverage sacks, because the O line is that good and Jalen will have more room to scramble with 2 deep safeties. The Chiefs are also weak against the run, and the Eagles are great running team with one of the best running O lines in football. They beat the Giants by running all over them for 268 rushing yards. If the Chiefs cheat in to play the run or spy Jalen, they are vulnerable deep with Brown and Smith. And blitzing is risky, too. The O line is really good and just needs to buy enough time for Jalen to dump it off Goaddard, Brown, or an RB. I think it's a tough match up for the Chiefs' defensive scheme. The Chiefs have really good coaching, and I think they'll come up with something to prevent the Eagles from embarrassing them, but it'll still be difficult to out-scheme the tough match up.

Do you appreciate them keeping teams under 30 points or do you prefer them keep opponents to 3-20 points around there and no more than that? Some defenses give up hella yards but are great against points allowed, that's kind of like New England's defense. Bend but don't break.

    Chiefs are the best coached team in the NFL since Spags joined Reid, who's the best OC of the past two decades. Chiefs limited talent in their back seven, but like the Bengals, but play with great variation, communication and understanding due to superior coaching. Chiefs are great in the trenches, just like the Eagles, which is the real reason both teams are here, not their skill players. Mahomes being a star results in underserved praise to him for all Chiefs success, when really he's a role player who has a few key scrambles and throws on the run a game. Hurts is a good young QB developing well, but again, vastly overhyped due to team success that is far more about a great #1 receiver and the best DL/OL. This year's SB is a real testament to top to bottom team building, not stars. Well, maybe except Kelce. He's ability to be uncoverable over middle after 3 seconds without fail is the safety valve that keeps the Chiefs offense rolling when otherwise it's pretty average. If the Eagles do a good job on Kelce, they win, if they don't they lose unless they get heroics from Brown/Hurts.
