Demonstrating a technique slowly for safety is just normal, it's hard to tell if that knife is blunt or not but in any case is has a good point on it, accidents can happen at anytime. Grandmaster Kuoha reached a very high ranking under Professor Chow, 9th Dan, recieving his 10th after Professor Chow's passing as indicated to Chow's Wife. He is the rightful heir to the Kara Ho System.
As far as MMA goes I have trained in many styles since my Kara Ho days, the techniques I have learned from Grandmaster, Ka'imi and John's expert instruction have translated very well in everything I have learned to date. I currently instruct at a Muay Thai, Boxing, and MMA gym. This art is for real. This video shows more fancy moves but it is overall not even a drop of what Kara Ho is really all about, if you judge their whole system from this it is only your loss.
Yes, I remember the techniques in the martial arts magazines and they did get a little fancy but I like fancy techniques, all great stuff. I met master Kuoha few years back at a seminar and he was teaching mostly on Ki principles. It was interesting and he was very friendly. That is great you train in MMA but still value and respect this art. I agree, it is for real and good for the street.
Fantastic instructional self defence video using karate, and the lady karate black belt absolutely destroyed his balls with multiple strikes and kicks, I teach similar techniques to our female karateka, more videos please oss
Le coups de pieds haut qui arrête un coup de couteau je trouve ça franchement stupide et très dangereux. Déjà qu'à la base le couteau est une arme très dangereuse et surtout très rapide, mais alors si en plus on rajoute une difficultée importante pr le bloquer, ça devient complètement irréaliste.

Mais cela est tres hazzardeux de bloquer surtout en combat réel un couteau avec le pied, il faut etre hyper precis. car si elle loupe ou si son bras glisse. elle est morte .. exactly. when this defence set is looked at as like a two-man weapons kata then the creativity to mix and match, work on attributes and skill set and so makes it more applicable as opposed to seeing at as a practical tactical defence. Of course there sre probably a quite a few as in this demonstration will freeze and do nothing when swarmed and not allowed to set up a counter to the counter-attack. my father, who taught me goshinjutsu kenpo always told me to get rid of the knife first.

Not a great idea to teach blocking a knife with a high kick! Not many people have her type of speed and accuracy. If your not a naturally athletic person high kicks can be disastrous

I hate the block by the foot to the knife arm it needs too much accuracy miss and get stabbed but the follow up moves are good
