- www.mindfulwingchun.online - Chu Shong Tin practicing the Chum Kiu forms at different ages of his life!
*A note about this channel the lineage:
Sifu Nima King is the owner and team leader of Mindful Wing Chun, a CST Wing Chun school in Hong Kong with affiliations around the world. Mindful Wing Chun is wholeheartedly dedicated to passing on the internal wing chun method as passed down by Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin who was the longest serving student of Grandmaster Ip Man. Chu Shong Tin lived with Ip Man for 5 years (1950-1955) and was coined the title ' the king of siu nim tao' by his master Ip Man.
He was a legend in the world of Wing Chun (in particular the internal method of wing chun) and spent 64years passing it on full-time before he passed away in 2014. Nima King practiced under him in Hong Kong for 9 years and established Mindful Wing Chun under CST's guidance. Nima is also on the board of Directors for the 'Chu Shong Tin Alumni' which is a group of senior students of CST that were hand picked by him to establish the Alumni and to uphold and continue his teachings and Wing Chun legacy after he passed away.
Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin was a very humble and low-key Wing Chun Master therefore its only after we began putting his videos online, that people started to hear about him. In fact, majority of the main Wing CHun teachers (of the Ip Man lineage) who began practice in the 50s and early 60s (apart of Leung Sheung and Lok Yiu) were trained by CST even-though they were Ip Man's students. This is due to CST being the most snr and main teacher of Ip Man's school in those days.

Nima was lucky to start his practice under CST in 2005 because that's when CST decided to change his teaching to all internal practice so that he can pass on "Nim Tao' and 'Nim Lik' (the mind power/energy cultivated through internal Wing Chun practice) to his students.
Nima, even though a non-chinese and much younger than the other students of CST, attained a high level of these final teachings. He now mainly teaches the seniors within this lineage and also travels around giving workshops and is working on an online program so that master CST's teaching can have a greater reach.

Master Chu was a very special person. You are doing him a great service showing his immense ability to us all. May he RIP.
thanks for the kind word bro 🙏
The King of SLT, his poise is unmatched. RIP Sigung Chu...
Thanks for the kind wishes. And yes he was a very special being indeed 🙏
His fascination & thorougher understanding of the first form clearly provide integrity with the second and third empty hand forms. Fantastic compilation Sifu King 🙏
so true, as I progress through my own practice I realize more and more that the key is really in the first form, as he used to say.
He's moving from his spine. High level skill.
jicely spotted! Yes he had amazing abilities with his Kung Fu!
Thank you
always a pleasure 😊🙏
Balance never changed. Also watch the stepping and turning to see the weight shift
👊
🐉SIFU JOHN COGAN “A friend to me, I learned you were his teacher and that’s fantastic. I study GARY LAM and WAN KAM. Now I have you. Fabulous. 🐉🙏🙏💥😉
John Cogan was a student of mine. I brought him over to Hong Kong to train under Chu Shong Tin. But unfortunately he didn't train for too long with him even though he was here for 8years, so he didnt rreally grasp what CST taught.
Nice chum kui!!👍
I think so too :)
Muchos movimientos son sentido la verdad
😊🙏🏼
is wingchun powerful against boxing
Wing Chun can be powerful when coming across any style of martial art. but to be actually able to use it in combat, one needs to do much conditioning and sparring practices as well as pad work. Its not realistic to expect to do well against another if you haven't done the fighting training and merely done the forms and techniques with compliant partners
Very sad sigung passed away. I never got to meet him in person. Do you teach students?
Yes I have a school in Hong Kong and do seminars all over (once Covid is finished). Also have an online school in which I pass all of his teachings online. if interested you can check out www.mindfulwingchun.online
@@MindfulWingChun Thank You. I learned basics from two of sigung's pupil. Hope to visit HK once covid settles down. I don't have teachers in my proximity now, so I practice alone.
@@shkshk8482 Which 2 did you practice with?
@@MindfulWingChun Sifu Leo and Regan
@@MindfulWingChun If I sign up for online lessons, can I ask you questions about my progress?
Good exercise for old people at the park.
indeed, also great for young people looking to learn how to mobilize their mass for maximum power!
It's not what it seems. WC is a very aggressive style...
Is he from the Moy Yat/ Ip man lineage ?
He is Ip Mans 3rd student in HK. started before Moy Yat in Jan 1951. And hr lived with Ip Man for a period of 5years and was the main teacher at his school from 1952 to 1957
@@MindfulWingChun wow that's amazing thank you so much. I had no idea
Did Moy Yat trained with Ip Man?
@@KingDariusMartial-dc2nr moy yat was one of his students
Nope. Most of this is wrong and week. It shows lack of concept and the form of the tools within the system. All who praise it are just as much in the dark.
hahaha. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
WTF, you’re insane. This is perfection.
@@MrCBTman lol!
He's so skinny that a martial art artist could easily break his arms and bones.
That what it would seem like to an untrained eye. He actually dis have plenty of challenge fights in the 60s and easily defeated his opponents. if you watch other videos on him you will see that eventhough he is skinny he was throwing around and much more powerful than westerners twice or even 3 times his size.
That is the beauty of this type of practice...
@@MindfulWingChun How can I challenge him into a friendly match ?
@@mark72141 unfortunately that is not possible since he passed away in 2014. But, My name is Nima and I'm one of his students. I'm happy to accept your challenge. I'm also not a high guys. 170cm and 70kg. You would need to come to HK and we could set it up however you want it.
@@MindfulWingChun With all due respect, I do not mean to be disrespectful to your late teacher. I'm Asian and respect Chinese culture and tradition. Sifu is like a parent. I should not have used the word "challenge" but "invite". I'm just a beginner of martial arts and am learning. I'm not big and tall myself. I just want to try and see for my own improvement. How and where do we meet?
@@mark72141 No worries at all. Thanks for the clarification. So you are in HK? if so can you email me your number on nima@mindfulwingchun.com.hk and we can set it up. We can do it at my house (which is on Kowloon side) or at my school which is on HK side.
This type of Wing Chun needs to be felt to be believed. So I can give you a 30min into on it and afterwards you can test me however you like be in sparring, striking power etc..
