I went last night... literally the only thing I didn't love it about this documentary is that I had to watch it sitting down! It is absolutely gorgeous - emotional, important, spellbinding. I had this beatific smile printed on my face the whole time. Though I'm really kicking myself for missing them *in my local park* in 2018!
I was lucky enough to record & tour with the man on the drums Mr. Sam Kelly. I'd known him about five years before i put two & two together and realised he was in Cymande. He never mentioned it himself. .I'm 15 years or so younger than him so I knew the band from the UK Rare Groove club scene, and later De La Soul samples, so to me they were legends. Two of the original band are still full time pro musicians. Sam, and saxophonist Michael "Bami" Rose.
I first discovered Cymande through P2P Soulseek in the early 2000s. Have the three albums on every format and has been a constant part of my life ever since. What a wonderful surprise to see this doco has been made. Finally some respect and kudos to these amazing musicians. But it's alright, you can still go home.
Looking forward to this. Brothers on the slide has been my ringtone for years.

What a band I listen to them twenty years ago for the first time and they blew my mind away.
Cymande on repeat!

I just discovered this band not too long ago because of de la soul. Now I learn they have a documentary?? Crazy!!

Grand.
Where can it be visible because it's not on Plex
Arthur Baker better finish the Rockers Revenge documentary.
A barrier against black music? I must have missed that time in history.
In the UK most definitely! In the 70's no airplay, no promotion! Maybe you're a little blinkered in your experience!
Yep, you haven't been paying attention then
