Whats with the 2 ladders going nowhere, just into the siding!. Are they going to send in Beavers first to gnaw a hole in the siding so the firemen can get in. Or maybe they want to get a color sample of the siding just in case the owners want to stay with that shade of off white. And lets get another 2 ladders up there against the house just in case it collapses.

On the bright side I am now using these videos as training aids on what not to do at structure fires. Even our Rookies are shaking their heads in disbelief. It is actually painful watching this having come up through the fire service under toxic narcissistic leadership in my early years… but not nearly as bad as this. Madman96, they are dressed the same way members of law enforcement agencies dress so, yes, actually it is difficult to differentiate them from law enforcement officers.
What exactly is their assignment that they dress the way they do? Fire Inspectors? Fire Marshal?
If they’re able to act as firefighters, why are they not in turnout gear performing fireground duties?

    • @Madmac96
      @Madmac96 3 года назад

@@ritirons2726 How about they were in a class and responded from it? There could be any number of reasons they are in their class B uniforms. Seems like you're a little bent for no reason at all.😉

      I’m “bent”....why do I care?
      Actually, I don’t.
I couldn’t care less who they are, where they’re coming from or where they’re going.
I’m simply agreeing that at first glance they do look like law enforcement.
Not all law enforcement officers where a full duty belt and vest.
Not to mention their inability to properly raise and position a ladder indicates a lack of knowledge in the use of the equipment.
Quite honestly if I were to be “bent” at anything it would be the manner in which you post your replies.
Your comments imply that we’re uneducated or lack common sense?
That’s the way you reply to some posting a comment that is not even directed at you?
Maybe YOU should inform us of who they are and why they’d be at a fire scene engaging in firefighting without turnout gear.
Judging by your reply you don’t know who these individuals are either.

Its pretty evident that this department and surrounding departments have crews that are willing and able to take orders and get tasks done. Chief Saliba has the tenacity and knows for the most part what needs to be done. If he just stepped back and took command and took in the entire scene i truly believe he could be a great chief. Hes often seen directly involved with operational roles and is issuing orders when he does not have the full picture. Chief knows what needs to be done operationally, but the incident command and accountability is lacking and its an easy fix. These are all hard lessons learned fro LODD NIOSH reports and they're easy changes.

Positive change only happens from the top down with competent leadership. After watching so many videos of this Department in action it is clear that this Chief is the problem. He does not know or understand what his role is or should be, or he just does not care or want to know. I hope he figures it out soon before someone gets killed because of him.

They could have extinguished that fire quicker and safer if they had just walked up to the window and soaked the room in around 5-10 seconds. Usually within one minute after arrival using tank water. It would have taken around 20-30 gallons of water and extension would have been greatly reduced.

I have lived through a house fire and know how many people come to answer the call and I always give people the benefit of the doubt (lets face it there is always going to be something that someone else knows more of than ones self). However that scene from a laymen's point of view felt disorganized , unsecured (because of a few safety issues), and lacked any since of leadership. There were personal of some sort with no PPE on less than 10feet from the flames and busting glass not to mention them going onto the neighbors property with a ladder that was not needed at that moment (unnecessary liability to both the other home owner and the city that employed the people on scene).
Disclaimer: I am sure all of the folks there are good people who did their absolute best and stayed within their department guidelines; I am only saying how it felt to me and some of the things I had seen that felt off in my own opinion.

2minutes and twelve seconds from parking brake till water on fire. And committed to old school tactic "fight from the unburned side" you really should have had water on the brave side in about 45 seconds.. shit doubled maybe tripled while you organized a push.

I was waiting for The Older Heavy Set Man in the blue denim shorts to be knocked down the stairs because his big a$$ was directly in the path to the doorway & I don't care if He is a Captain or a Chief, He should know better. & I think it's insane and a dangerous risk to other firemen have others around them in a emergency situation who are completely out of shape & way over weight

Another great job Steve! I pray for the family and their loss. I pray for the crew that had to deal with the thoughts they have after as well. Been there done that, its tuff. Nothing changes, I see some bad blood below in the comments, that goes on everywhere. Looks to me like you guys are squared away and do a good job. God has a plan for everyone, we can only do what we can do. God Bless...

My condolences to the family of the deceased victim.
What kind of helmet do you wear to take these videos? If you're wearing a fire helmet, people would, and should, expect you to help out somewhere? Just standing there in a helmet to take videos is unacceptable.

I'm a photographer. I have no training in the fire service, but my 'job' for the department is taking pictures, and I also take video when I can. I have 2 DSLR cameras hanging around my neck, so there's not too much I can do without the risk of them being damaged, but there have been several occasions where I would help drag a line, fetch a tool, and in one case, grabbed a rescued dog from a fireman as he came out of a house.

@@Madmac96You do realize that many departments/firefighters specifically watch these videos to learn from others’ mistakes, right? You do want firefighters to improve, I assume, not just accept everything as “good enough” however it goes down, I would think.

The entire firefighting community should be ashamed of the negative comments. ..stick a rag in it...these videos are almost the only place the comments are so vitriolic. ...makes me sick, if you can't constructively criticise shut up. It doesn't help anyone to spew your "knowledge"....it's embarrassing.

    • @josephbrown822

Your going to see comments like these and some will be from firefighters or family members of them or victims. But if you notice there was ZERO command and control, you how many white helmets walking around the scene? And not 1 took control and got the situation under control, and you had one who had no TURN OUT GEAR ON. I'm a volunteer and at times get upset when arm chair firefighters think they know everything, but this department really needs to step up their game and do a better job. Even you Neal have to agree that there was some serious flaws in the way they worked this scene and the video showed it all.

I agree their are things to be desired on this scene as well as most any, none of them are ever perfect, but how we approach our brothers effects the publics view of our own professionalism as well as their perception of the entire US fire service.
