I was 10 years old in 1952, and Jo Stafford's music was on the radio frequently. She and her bandleader husband (can't remember his name) also had comedy records where Jo would sing off tune. Thanks for this!

That sounds like a blast! My mum and dad were born in 1952!

The early 50s are a very underrated era. Whenever people think of the 50s they think of rock n roll but that was near the end of the decade going into the 60s. I find the early 50s slower vibe very tranquil and soulful. Love it. My grandmother was around 9 in 1952

Paul Weston. Jonathan and Darlene Edwards were their comic alter-egos. Just another aspect of her technical mastery to sing - not off-pitch, but off-key in all of those astonishingly and wonderfully awful songs.

Been so busy with graveshift that I haven't been able to comment, THANKS AGAIN for doing the request, I so appreciate it Mrs. Realistic. Ms. Stafford was one of the greatest female vocalists of her generation (which is saying A LOT!! considering you had legends like Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, Sarah Vaughn, Doris Day and many others). I wish we could hear great voices like this again in modern music.

You are so welcome! It's rare now to hear these voices, but there are a few! 😊

Wow! Thanks for the memories. My mother played our console stereo on Sundays on a station with no commercials. Retro Sirius?

You are right, it does sound like a movie song. What an incredible voice! So pure.

The song brings you back to an era where men wore hats, women wore gloves and cars had white-walls.

I was born in the 2000s but I find 50s music so soulful. Like it sounds so romantic and made with love

Something that's been lost a little along the way!
