BATHROOM BREAK OR NEEDLE ISSUES
SUPPLIES: 1 L NS SALINE BAG, RECIRC CONNECTOR, 2 SALINE FLUSHES, TAPE, ALCOHOL WIPES
1: STOP PUMP
2: FLUSH ARTERIAL LINE, return blood like regular rinseback (DO NOT HIT GREEN MAN---EVER)
3: Place machine in bypass
4: CHECK SITTING BLOOD PRESSURE.
5: TRANSPORT PATIENT TO BATHROOM WHEELCHAIR IN ENCOURAGED
6: STOP PUMP.
7: FLUSH VENOUS LINE
8: CONNECT ARTERIAL AND VENOUS LINES WITH RECIRC CONECTOR.
9:OPEN SALINE LINES
10: START PUMP
PATIENT RETURN FROM BATHROOM
1: STOP PUMP
2: CLAMP 4 LINES
3: CONFIRM NEEDLE PLACEMENT
4: CONNECT PATIENT TO MACHINE
5: START PUMP
6: TAKE MACHINE OUT OF BYPASS
7: REPLACE 1 L NS BAG
8: CONFIRM PRESCRIBED BLOOD FLOW RATE

So is this also the exact same process like say if I’m having trouble adjusting high arterial/venous pressures? We want to put them in recirc right to avoid clotting?
What is the blood flow rate when recicrculating? Also, for how long until you change the lines and dalyzer?

Is it protocol to wear the bp cuff for the pt? Comfort measures?
It wasn’t comfortable for me. It squeezed way too tight
Are you not going to add to the UF goal the fluid administered during rinse back?
Check ur facility protocol. Depends on how the patient is doing, blood pressure, max UFR, etc. thanks!!
