you've saved my generator! Bought it used and a year after without using it, start this thing at the race track and it begin this problem, tried several thing without succes. thanks a lot
I have the same generator and the problem with it is no power coming out from the outlet and the overloaded light is blinking without connecting any device on it. Any ideas what could it be the problem?
What year is your generator? I just picked up a 2012 model year but brand new never used (sitting on the dealer floor for 6 years, I got a great discount), I'm wondering if it will have this issue.
You'll find out on a really hot day. I would imagine your Yamaha dealer could find out the details on the recall and supply you with the effected VIN range.
My had exactly same problem. Fixed by removing the speed limiter board and cleaning oxydation on the board tracks. Used isopropyl alcohol, a clean cloth and a small (for phone repair) flathead screwdriver to scrape the oxidation from the soldering points.
I had this same problem with my 2014 3000ISEB, I found the service bulliten for the speed limiter board but it had expired AND mine was not withing the "range of effected serial numbers" but still had the problem as shown in this video. The board cost $180CAD taxes in.
Thanks for the video and the info. I tried to tell my Yamaha shop but they wouldn't listen. I Called Yamaha and they say that their notice is expired and they no longer supply assistance on the issue. I tested my board by putting it in the freezer for a few minutes, reinstalled and it started right up. I then closed my hands around the board to warm it up and it started loping almost immediately. The dealer has ordered me a new board at cost so we shall see...
Don't count on Yamaha warranty. U will be lucky to find one within a hundred miles. STARTER going out . Might have to change it myself. Can't find any videos on that.

Thank you for this video, really saved me. I thought I bought a complete lemon. Replacement part is $150.
If I purchase a replacement board that says it's OEM will this be the updated one or is there a specific board I need to try and find?

FixBreakRepeat the Yamaha dealer called Yamaha and told me there are no recalls for the 2012 model, I guess we'll find out if it's true this summer!

@@U00ldl3 thanks for the tip! Maybe slather with dielectric grease to prevent a repeat problem.

Where do I buy a limiter board on line?
Question. Do you have to undo choke cable to open front face plate?

Bubba Hi. What is the name of this board? (sorry, my hearing isn't what it used to be - LOL).
So what was the outcome of this ?
Maybe a small computer fan installed to help move hot air?

Maybe solder joints needed to reflowed with solder
Is this still a problem on new ones 2021
of course not. This was a problem years ago. They wouldn't continue to use faulty parts after performing a recall.
Cost on the replacement board?
Unsure, this part was covered under recall. I was able to get the part from Yamaha and do it myself.
About $100 USD.
Part number 7cf-85680-00-00
Part number by chance ?
Always
Should have got a HONDA 😂
