Thanks, I was debating these two sites and I wasn't impressed with the free version of ultimate in comparison especially because the free tabs seemed inaccurate and used a generic amp sound. Seems like the premium play alongs sound a lot better on top the player features.
I can play by ear very well. Sheet music is Algebra to me and all I was able to squeeze out of that discipline in school/college was a C+. Why are there so many different "chord/key" differences for many popular songs that sound nothing like the original recording I have on about 1500 cd's and Spotify.
Anyone learning is spoiled these days with the amount of online resources. There used to be something called “OLGA” back in the day and that was it. Haha.
Then it was blocked by publishing companies (despite the fact that it is clearly a derivative work) then the weasels at ultimate guitar nabbed all of our free submissions and monetized them.
Great video, Desi. Thanks! I have an Ultimate Guitar Pro account and it is really helpful for learning, practicing and playing along. There is a drawback and I wrote to them about it but received no answer. Maybe you know a way or some other tab web site that has a solution for this. I have a playlist that I use to practice and play along. For each song I use personalized settings for pitch, instrument muting, etc. The thing is, every time I change tabs I have to adjust these settings all over again. Sadly, there is no option for saving the settings!
@@desisernaguitar is there a trick to practicing how quick your fingers move to the positions mentioned on the tab? I noticed that when you saw the mentioned positions , you were there immediately and for most of us , we look at the fret numbers then down and the fretboard then back at the sheet again etc. Really slow process.

Great video. On UG, Can we save a playlist of tabs, like if I have to work on a complete show an want to check that I can actually move on super quick to the next song? Or at least save our favorites?
No need to read the tablature here. I'm just referencing websites that are useful resources. Visit the websites yourself and view the tablatures full screen.
Haven't tried Fender Play. It might be good for beginners who need help getting started before they can teach themselves and make use of tab sites. I also have free instruction on my website. GuitarMusicTheory.com
Ultimate guitar and sheet music direct have official tabs. Sheet music direct generally has the most accurate tabs, but I really like the interactive ultimate guitar features.
If you’re in the stage where you’re learning how to use basic chords to strum along with songs, tablature isn’t what you need. Strum pattern cymbals are not always helpful either. I recommend you work with an instructor who can help you develop your strumming skills and playing skills in general. Here’s a free course I put together that will help you: guitarmusictheory.teachable.com/p/3-simple-songs-to-learn-and-master
I hope someone answer this question . Im new to guitars and tabs 3 days experience so far . My question is : which tab to use if both same song but use different looking tabs ? Like i have seen many Happy birthday song tabs all look different, i picked the one where you play on first string most of it 002054
Any recommendations for sites where “guitar pro” files are available? I often find it nice to be able to load a tab into guitar pro and edit it to meet my requirements. Maybe remove the vocals, or add some reminder notes. Or just use the guitar pro player.
Seriously, you're the best. Very professional.
Thank you for being frank and honest, that's what I like about your lessons. Your a great instructor.
33:33 Conclusion. Free, Songsterr first because is the best at no cost. Paid, Ultimate Guitar, because all the tools it provides.

Thanks Desi. I signed up for the ultimate guitar pro based on this video.
I have used a number of online guitar instructions and Desi is without a doubt one of the very best instructors online!
Thanks, Bill!
Thank you for the tip to look at images
Happy to help!
Fantastic resource for new guitarists and bassists, Desi, just like your courses. Thank you!
Thank you Desi that was so helpful full of very useful information. Many thanks 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks man , this was very helpful, I will work on a new tune and will post in in my channel soon

Recordings capture a moment. Moments change. Some artists never play the same thing twice.
Thank you Desi.
UG Pro is definitely worth the cost. Like you I occasionally supplement it with others, such as Songsterr & RUclips.
Good tips and info, thanks!
Thank you Desi. It's really useful.
very interesting topic
Thanks for the great video Desi!

Desi Serna Guitar okay fine.

I remember that. Thank god for my ear, I can figure a song out by ear very easy.
What does it mean?
Thanks for your help

Not sure. I usually just bookmark tabs and my web browser.

Blessings. I just found your videos. Do you teach how to read sheet music?
Generally, no I don't teach how to read music. Watch this video to see why. ruclips.net/video/CYNMblXx4Kc/видео.html
Hey Desi, what are your thoughts on the Fender Play course? I've been using it recently, as Fender made it free-access during the lockdown.
Haven't tried Fender Play. It might be good for beginners who need help getting started before they can teach themselves and make use of tab sites. I also have free instruction on my website. GuitarMusicTheory.com
Is that a Paul Reed Smith guitar?
Yes. It's a PRS McCarty 594.
@@desisernaguitar wow😮
So in conclusion: What's the best? Songsterr? Thanks
I like the paid version of Ultimate-Guitar and I also purchase sheet music from www.sheetmusicdirect.com/en-US/
11:10 ahmm I dont understand very well can someone explin it again, what is that about "e flat"
Sometimes guitarists tune all their strings down a half-step. That tuning is called E flat.
What about Hal Leonardo tab books?
Tab books can be good but they don't offer the interactive features of an online tab player.
Desi, the tab sites that claim to have official tabs. In your experience are they actually official tabs? Thank you
Ultimate guitar and sheet music direct have official tabs. Sheet music direct generally has the most accurate tabs, but I really like the interactive ultimate guitar features.
Do you need to purchase the Guitar Pro software to use with Ultimate Guitar ?
No. The ultimate guitar website has a player that works in your web browser.
So which is the best Tab wesbite?
I have been using the paid version of ultimate-guitar.com and sheetmusicdirect.com
Too bad you didn't say a word about resources that show strumming patterns and strumming pattern symbols.
If you’re in the stage where you’re learning how to use basic chords to strum along with songs, tablature isn’t what you need. Strum pattern cymbals are not always helpful either. Besides songsterr what other apps you recommend but for drums 🥁?

what happened to Songster?
It's still working on my end. www.songsterr.com/

Happy Birthday can be played in different ways in different keys. As long as it sounds like the melody you know, it's a "correct" version.
Any recommendations for sites where “guitar pro” files are available? I often find it nice to be able to load a tab into guitar pro and edit it to meet my requirements. Maybe remove the vocals, or add some reminder notes. Or just use the guitar pro player.
Dave Blakemore See the “pro“ tabs at ultimate - guitar.
MySongBook and Ulimate Guitar inside the program. I just use the site for making new tabs. I can get tabs free online. I don't really need a player.
I use UG pro and have the utube symbol to play blue tooth songs …..ooooh yeaaa
I don’t see your utube button in the upper right
What model PRS is that?😊
McCarty 594

mysongbook the guitar pro site is only2.99 per month. Competitive?
MySongBook has only a fraction of the songs you'll find at Ultimate-Guitar.
