    Rip Bert. GMA got me through a nervous breakdown in the early 2000's. I always wanted to thank him in person but now Il never get to. Thank you Bert. Australia lost a true tv legend. 😥💔

    I live in the UK and only came across Bert Newton due to you tube. We had never heard of him over here. But, I've watched a number of videos featuring Bert since, and what a star he was! We had our own this is your life version.

      Yeah he was a pioneer on Aussie TV from the early beginnings. We grew up with Bert and he ended up getting a state funeral when he died a couple of years ago. Good to see his humour continues to entertain.

    Very sad about the passing of Bert Newton. As a new Australian back in 1984, I learned to love characters like him and Graham Kennedy, who made my transition to my new country less painful and much easier. Rest in peace, good man.❤

    This is a wonderful moment. A show format like 'This is your life" simply will not work in today's world. Why? Because all our past has caught up with us on social media. In the good ol days, loved people would fade away into the darkness, never to be seen again. I hope the producers of this show reboot it in a better video format that Bert deserves.

    30th October, 2021 was indeed a *sad* day in Australian TV for the loss of the *LEGEND* that was Bert Newton. Two years gone without the Logies being presented, the Logies should be abolished and a *NEW* award minted, *the NEWTONS!* for best comedy, drama, talk/variety and documentary shows, but *STRICTLY FOR FREE-TO-AIR* and also *STRICTLY NO REALITY SHOWS!*

    I remember watching this show as a kid in the 90s and loving it. There's something still so wholesome about this, even in 1997 there was still an innocence about Australia which doesn't seem to exist anymore. Maybe its got something to do with the internet which was probably on the cusp of being a big thing when this was made. So much has changed about the world and people's attitudes since then.

      @thebendigostrangler Yes I’m an Aussie. He was a great Aussie Icon . Great times back in the 70s and 80s. Was often on The Don Lane Show with Don Lane who was an American that was the essence of Australian TV back in the 70s , like Paul Hogan .

    • @juliakate5684
      @juliakate5684 2 года назад

      @thebendigostrangler no I certainly am not although I can relive the 1980s again through utube like most Gen Xers and baby boomers do . I will say however for a lady in my late 50s I have never dyed my hair . It’s stayed it’s natural blonde colour . I think young and that’s why I look at least 10 yrs younger than what I am 😊 There are old people on Tiktok that look old Eg 50 60 etc but I’m 58 and I think they think I’m on the young end scale of a Gen Xer

    • @juliakate5684
      @juliakate5684 2 года назад

      @thebendigostrangler Hey 25-40 yr olds didn’t live in the 70s and 80s . The best times in Australia where you saw blonde babes in person and not on photoshopped Instagram . My kids are 28 and 30, but hey think young and you will stay young . Think old and you’ll end up in a nursing home much sooner. I know a 75 yr old guy who is the running man from Melbourne . Met him on a cruise on my 50th in 2013 going back from Hawaii to Sydney 17 nights on Royal Carribean . He runs about 20kms minimum a day and looks 55 where as there are 75yr olds in nursing homes so the motto use it or lose it rings true . Use all body parts too 🤣

    • @juliakate5684
      @juliakate5684 2 года назад

      @thebendigostrangler listen to Mondo Rock Come said the Boy filmed on Maroubra Beach in the 1980s Sydney Australia. That’s when I was young . 1980 16 turning 17 . Used to go to Maroubra Seals night club , Selina’s etc totally different world . I’m guessing your in your 40s from USA so maybe the early 90s was your nostalgia. The backstreet boys perhaps 🤣

    Pattie McGrath was a member of *Swallows Juniors* initially on radio, then migrated to TV when, hosted by Brian Naylor, the show was aired by Station HSV-Melbourne. When the Swallows sponsorship crumbled, the show became *Brian & The Juniors* which then ran until 1970. Six of the "Juniors" from that last year would go on to form the first *Young Talent Time* team at Station ATV-Melbourne in April, 1971, they were Rod Kirkham, Vicki Broughton, Philip Gould, Debbie Byrne, Jamie Redfern and Jane Scali.

    The good old days when I was a young good looking blonde girl . Still blonde and quite good looking for 58 but very different times . Worked full time in the bank with some real deadshits . so that was shit . But went out partied weekends and didn’t have to worry about putting parties on so was great .

      Look at Mondo Rock Come said the boy when I was a young chickadee back in the 1980s . Still got my natural blonde hair lucky me . I’m the only 58 yr old lady that gets a quick 15 minute haircut once every 3 months and has never dyed my hair . I ask my hairdresser should I put highlights in it and she always says it’s not necessary. She’s honest . She said you don’t need to . All other ladies colour their hair spend $$$ and time . Maybe cause I still act like a kid 25-40 my hair hasn’t gone grey yet 👱‍♀️

    • @Mediawatcher2023
      @Mediawatcher2023 7 месяцев назад

      @neilforbes416 Now you may know this.Traditionally, TV stations made their broadcasts by sending specially-encoded radio signals over the air, called terrestrial television. Individual television stations are usually granted licenses by a government agency to use a particular section of the radio spectrum (a channel) through which they send their signals.
