DIY Pheasants in North East Montana

Explore the phenomenal DIY pheasant hunting opportunities in North East Montana near the community of Plentywood. Great pheasant hunting for the freelance hunter. Besides pheasants, there are also good numbers of Hungarian partridge and sharptail grouse. There is some public land in the area including waterfowl production areas but we found good bird numbers on some of the Block Management Areas that are private lands open to hunters through an access program implemented by the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. Compared to many areas of the Midwest with good pheasant hunting, it is also still possible to knock on doors and get permission.
We found the small towns in Montana very open to hunters. The motels allowed us to have dogs in the rooms for example for a minimum charge. People were friendly in the cafes. This part of Montana is special and it felt like traveling back in time.
