Thanks Guys! I'll Definitely do the other big 3. Any more Bench Questions for the video? I definitely need more than what we currently have. Thanks guys!
Hey Brain whats your opinion on reverse grip benching? Also any advice on why my butt rises up so much when I try to use leg drive? Just technique issue or something else? Thanks for everything you do!! (Also a collaboration with Pete Rubish would be awesome!!! )
I was today years old when I realized that the neversate logo is Atlas holding the world. I always thought it was a deer, or similar animal, with antlers. Brian, I treat your videos like the gospel. I love the content you put out. I'm halfway through week 11 of your conjugate program. This is perfect timing because I end up doing similar assistance work for each exercise. I'm looking forward to trying these. Although I'm not looking forward to the unloaded bar exercise. That seems like hell. I'd love to see finishers for the other exercises! Could you start with squat? That's my next max effort day haha. As always, thank you!
Brian, you have the life you do because of the hard work you put in and your positive attitude. Spreading positive can do attitude and improving the world. Glad to hear Miles is blowing up, he deserves it with the undoubtedly hard work he has put in.
I'm an old man 58 yrs old been in and out of the game since 1977 and may I say this week was the first time I ever braced like I was supposed to be doing and man was it different the weight jumped off the floor and no pain in my back at all Thank you
Another option for no friends drop sets is a mechanical drop sets. You use leverages that mean you cant lift as much first then move towards favourable leverages. For example, you may go, Feet Up Bench Press to Paused Bench to Touch n Go Bench without changing weight.
Had to show my daughter you holding yourself out horizontally from your squat rack post. Don’t think she believed me that it was possible. She’s amazed.
I really admire the way you workout Brian! I personally don't watch the time when I'm in the gym. Atleast not while working my main lifts. Works the best for me.
Absolutely brilliant video! I can’t emphasise enough how good these are.... the blend of power, strong and conditioning while being fun is a welcome sight for RUclips! You are on too a good thing here Brother.... keep going....these subscribers will rack up!!! Plus nice to see a true gent being a role model for us lifters!!
Yes please do similar videos for the other bigs. All the way from malta.. you ve changed my way of training since discovering your channel. I ditched the bro splits for strongman training
Sweet, definitely looking forward to assistance videos for the other 3 big lifts. Anything to shave little time cuz that monster (TIME) is not my friend. Thanks for giving us so much your time man........Keep it up
Brian, or anyone on the comments, I have been struggling with chronic patellar and achilles tendonitis. I need to hear your positive outlook on injuries ( or anyone else's). I made a mistake of taking some serious time off. The only thing this break did was to decrease my moral and question my potential. I loved the video where you talked about pushing through injuries and continuing to train around the smaller ones.
I would also love to see a squat and deadlift video to go with this series :) I appreciate the effort you put into your work mate. You are very helpful, thanks again :)
The Burnout, where you just take 10 pounds off the bar while armping each set of weight and continuing till it's just the bar is my favorite finisher by far, my friends and I do that every bench session.
With not having cable machines, have you thought of investing in Rogue or Spud Inc pulley systems for your racks? Just a more cost effective way to add cables to your gym if you ever want to.
For the Bench Q&A: For lockout issues, does a pin press offer anything a floor press doesn’t? Like, any reason to pick one or the other? For programming, any reason to program a neutral grip variation (like a Swiss bar 3RM) if we don’t get shoulder trouble from normal bench? If we want to focus on the bench, would you recommend dropping the overhead day and adding more bench variations in the week, or stick to one heavy bench focused day a week? Along the same lines, if we want to focus on bench, would you use some of the mindset challenges or conditioning to sneak extra volume in (like the bench max = reps, a push up challenge or something else), or would you stay away from that to get extra “effort” at the core lift?
Hoooooly CRAP! Tried the 1rep per 1lb of 1 rep Max and oh my gosh....had to take a tiny break at 170 but got the last 100 in and my chest hasn't felt better in years. Highly recommend y'all try it.
Great timing man.. Hurt my shoulder (AC joint) bout 2 months ago.. Hvnot bench heavy at all ever since just rehab + medication.. Just start off pressing again.. ¼ bottom ROM is a no go for now. Only can do partial pressing like pin press, floor press & bench blocks.. Can i still build bench press w partial pressing only? How shud i train my upperbody to build bigger bench
Q/A Do you rate the swiss bar? I find It's shoulder friendly due to shoulder issues. Lovin the vids by the way. Please keep up. From the land Down Under!!!!
I haven't tried the 4 horsemen program yet but I´m thinking of giving it a try later this year after I finish my current program or early next year after some sweet winter bulking :)
Bench question. Flat bench vs incline. Do you prefer one over the other, how much importance should I place on working the incline into a program. I plan on being back to benching after rotator cuff surgery in dec (eventually) and I'd like to have some good plans in place. Also, how's the health man?? You're looking awesome!
If you're not competing, the variation doesn't really matter. So like that other dude said, use the variation that you can progress on without hurting yourself. Say you can't dead lift off the floor because it causes you some issue, but RDL or rack pull is fine. Then do those instead! Do the exercise variation that allows you to grow stronger. Certainly utilize any therapeutic routine that seems like it helps you, but if you're never gonna be a powerlifter, may as well incline bench.
Bench related question; my erectors just above my hips cramp up fairly often while trying to brace on the bench press. I do my set up how you reccomend and drive my traps into the bench retracting my shoulder blades and have a small arch. But sometimes I cramp so bad I have to stop mid set. Is this a flexibility issue or something else? Thank you for any help, your videos have taught me a TON
benj1b G’day lad, if by erectors you mean your lower back then it’s most likely a issue with core strength. Same as how if your core is weak you get a sore back during planks. Try doing glute bridges holding for ~5-10sec each rep focusing on staying symmetrical and balanced as an assistance and see if it makes a difference
@@jamesmtokyo hmmm I'm gonna give this a try. Thanks. I can't seem to figure out what it is and I keep thinking I need to stretch more or something. But definitely gonna try this
First off just got to say love the videos looks like neversate is an awesome place to train, my question is would you recommend adding in unilateral movements into a giant set? If so what unilateral bench press movements would be best?
I've gotten some pretty good mileage out of uni db press. As per Brian's big set style, I like doing uni db rows: one arm, then the other. Then immediately flip over and do the same with uni db press, one side, then the other. Easy to set up (one bench, one db), and very scaleable for L/M/H days. Pairs well with dragon flags if you're doing abs in there. I mean, you're already lying on a bench.
So far all your programs have one bench session per week. What are your thought on upping bench frequency, especially to something like 3 or 4 times a week?
Question on the bench press I was stuck at a bench max of 340 for two years didnt change anything and this year my bench shot up to 380 in less then a month and a half how ?🤔
Is this conditioning type of finisher a replacement for cardio? I do 15 minutes cardio at the end of my workout, I would prefer to do something like this instead but I don't want to do both =P
Take it from a skinny bitch: FOOD is what puts on mass. You can do any routine, any style, whatever. But if you don't increase calories, you ain't gonna put on weight. That being said, I think Brian's powerbuilder program would suit your purposes better unless you're a lifting noob. 5-10 lb increase per set, per week is pretty ambitious UNLESS you're still capable of novice gains or can properly regulate yourself (I can't. I always think I can put more weight on the bar until I fail reps. I'm a dummy. Don't do that). But then, I get the impression you're still a teenager, so maybe you've got it in you if you eat well.
Yes, please do similar videos for all big 4 assistance finisher. Thanks man
I second that request I've been losing brain cells trying to figure the best assistance stuff lol
I'm definitely voting in favor of videos for assistance for the other 3 big lifts
Thanks Guys! I'll Definitely do the other big 3. Any more Bench Questions for the video? I definitely need more than what we currently have. Thanks guys!
Differences in training for men and women.
Hey Brain whats your opinion on reverse grip benching? Also any advice on why my butt rises up so much when I try to use leg drive? Just technique issue or something else? Thanks for everything you do!! (Also a collaboration with Pete Rubish would be awesome!!! )
How should grip width affect your bar path? Thanks for all the content man!
What do you think about doing weighted dips as a main movement instead of bench?
yes please ;)
Yes do this for the other 3 big lifts!

My assistance work done in 10 minutes? Thats awesome. Would be great to get more of these finishers for the other movements. Thank you so much!
Currently on second week of 4 horseman and already have a 10lb small PR in squat really happy about that thanks brian for the free program.
Thanks for being so generous with all your knowledge. It would be awesome to have this for all the big lifts
Brian I would LOVE to see an assistant excercise video for all of the main lifts. Squats, deadlift, Overhead Press

Thank you Brian for your free content!
Honestly this is next level, so please do the videos on assistance work for the other big lifts
Great assistance finishers. Thanks, Brian for all you do.
You're always spoiling us! Thank you!

Absolutely brother make more of these please. Thanks Brian

Been running the Dark horse program for awhile now and any assistance is helpful
Had to show my daughter you holding yourself out horizontally from your squat rack post. Don’t think she believed me that it was possible. She’s amazed.
Definitely would like to see the rest of these videos
I would love to see assistance videos of the other big lifts. I would also love to see assistance videos of the different strongman implements.
I really admire the way you workout Brian! I personally don't watch the time when I'm in the gym. Atleast not while working my main lifts. Works the best for me.

Good vid...yes, please do big three. Shirts are badass.
Loved this video, please do more for other lifts.
Yes do this for the other big 3. Also how do you work on maintaining technique on the bench when lifting heavy?
yup, totally agree. Please do them ! i just finished week 2 and i`m doing banded stuff. I`m absolutely fried btw
Great video thank you, your knowledge is much appreciated. 😊😊😊
Good stuff as always Brian.
Wow, I'm actually super pumped to try the empty barbell challenge!
The Burnout, where you just take 10 pounds off the bar while armping each set of weight and continuing till it's just the bar is my favorite finisher by far, my friends and I do that every bench session.
I've been 1rep max testing this week, about to start the 4 horsemen , so more assistance videos would be a great help.
Awesome video as always Brian!! Any ideas on what to replace with, or how to change the bench press when having shoulder issues?
With not having cable machines, have you thought of investing in Rogue or Spud Inc pulley systems for your racks? Just a more cost effective way to add cables to your gym if you ever want to.

Great vid Brian! QUESTION: What do you think about negatives to increase the bench press?

Switch to metric, then it won't be as bad.

Awesome video as usual.

Can you show the best form for moving heavy weight on th bench press
Appreciate this. Thanks
