While I was watching, it really dawned upon me that you guys haven't done The Summoning yet? Unless I missed it? It's usually the first song that gets requested for reactions. 'Vore' is an interesting song because it sort of embodies a big theme of the third album and it's probably the most straight forward 'metal' song they've ever done imo. Vessel is just pissed in this song, similar to the end of Take Me Back To Eden where he's just had enough and wants to 'go back to eden' so to speak. It's heavy artistically rather than just being heavy for the sake of it. I do think a song like Vore gets underappreciated because of the screaming, but artistically it's there especially when you follow the journey in order through all three albums. Looking forward to what's next! :D
This week going through Sleep Token with you guys has been a highlight. Loved it. My favourite is probably 'when the bough breaks' or 'rain'. 'Descending' is definitely a vibe, too!

Thanks again for your reaction ;-) The screaming at the beginning was a bit off-putting for me at first, but when the song opens up and the chorus kicks in, it's just absolutely amazing. I also just love their lyrics.
"Are you in pain like I am!?" Vore is the act of eating or type of eating like Carnivore or Omnivore. Its basically a metaphor of being eaten alive by his own problems. Not being important enough to get all of his loves attention, being misunderstood all the while wanting to be swallowed whole to possibly avoid anymore pain. At least that was my two cents. "Gods" was the im fkn pissed at being the fall guy/butt of the joke and now its payback time.
Can you guys listen to their songs with the lyrics? I think you would appreciate more the musical experience. The lyrical artistery and depth is so dam guuuuuddd
Initially when listening to Sleep Token I actually worried about there not being enough heavy songs like Vore. I found out quickly their songs aren’t going to be what I’m expecting but I ended up really enjoying them no matter how heavy they go.
I was interested to see what your take on this would be. It's an odd one isn't it, because it's so unlike the majority of their work. There's also "Gods" on "Sundowning" which is another track using Vessel's fry/scream vocals. Strangely enough, before I started listening to Sleep Token, I couldn't stand listening to scream vocals. I can't say I'm totally OK with it now, but I'm a bit more comfortable/relaxed about them.
I don't have a fav ST song as they are all so good but I would say my most listened to songs are Atlantic, Acensionism and Euclid. You have already viewed Ascensionism and I would urge you not listen to Euclid until everything else is done so my recommendation would be Atlantic. Worship
