The other day you played your best game.
Today you walked your queen into a discovery, and said your favorite catch phrase "what are you gonna do, my opponent played a perfect game."
    Classic Patrick is back

Couldn’t relate more to stopping the blitz games on your phone! I was totally addicted & now I just play 10 min games. It’s more enjoyable and I’m more intentional about playing chess. I made the change after watching your videos - appreciate it!

20:23 Qb6 is such a poor move. Obviously white has Nxf5+ winning the queen. But even if Nxf5 was not a check it still wins a pawn. You should never put your queen in line with their bishop like that unless you are absolutely sure there are no tactics.
That said, white's position is so strong that even had you played Qd7 you were losing as you showed in your analysis. But Qb6 is simply insane.

Completely agree with everything you said about blitz games. Some of us here hoped that it might speed up your pace of play but that obviously hasn't happened, and given your tactical blunders recently doing more puzzles can only be beneficial.

Thanks for sharing your experiences regarding your chess habits. I experienced the same thing just before Christmas. I was obsessed with playing blitz and rapid chess online. I'd just participated in an over the board tournament and did well so it fueled my desire to play more chess. Like you said I stopped doing other important things to play chess. And most importantly I noticed that my mental health was being severely affected especially when I lost. This perpetuated more losses and I dropped 80 rating points in 1 day! I lost an entire night of sleep stressing about my rating loss. I was doing so well and then WTH?? So I stopped playing chess until just recently and now I am approaching it very differently. It's just a game after all!!!!

Same here. It's a only game but it's addictive and can be mentally damaging. Like gambling. When that dopamine rush doesn't get released it can be brutal. Especially when you throw a totally won game or get flagged. Look at Ivanchuk to see how excruciating it can be. Then you play the losing moves over and over in your head on a loop. I've also noticed when I lose the lows are much worse and longer lasting than the highs and ego boost I get when I win.

Check or no check after your queenmove, how can you ever put your queen in a discovered line with whites bishop? 🤔

If black didn’t have a knight move with any threat it wouldn’t have mattered. It some cases it can be good like if the bishop has no defenders and you’re pinning the knight to it

You seem to think the queen blunder cost you the game so I thought id throw in my 10 cents.
17:35 Have a look at your pieces. Your queen has 5 safe squares (before you shut half of those off with a pawn move) your bishop has 2 safe squares, your knight is on the edge with no safe sqaures, your king is on the open H file, one rook is stuck behind doubled pawns from castling and the other is in the corner from the start of the game.
As everyone has stated never walk your queen into discovered attacks, "checks" or not but i think the game had bigger issues. Id recommend watching the Chessbrah series(hosted by a GM) "Building Habits". It purposely showcases postioning over tactics which is the polar opposite of your playing style. The series often purposely ignores free pawns or winning sacrifices but instead aims to win on strong fundamentals, something that is vital above 1500.
Wishing you the best for the journey. Keep grinding 👌

Great point here. Patrick 100% needs to go back to these fundamentals of piece coordination. In the middlegame it can be hard to find a plan, but it’s best to take a few moments to look for weaknesses in the opponents position, or good squares where you could potentially place your pieces. I mean at 10:36 he saw that taking the knight on e5 is going to lose the h7 pawn to check but he still takes? And another example of this idea 15:32 , it’s just far too complex of an idea and not even thought through fully and his queen just ends up acting as a pawn until walking into the discovered attack.

I think I know why he made that Qb6 move. He thought it would trick the opponent into giving that Ne6 check that he saw. And he would simply capture the knight with his queen 😅

Well I guess for reaching 2000 you should restrain yourself from putting the Queen into dicvoered check, but i may be wrong....

Avoid discovered attacks Patrick, anyway let's talk about how to identify plastic bottles that are unsafe for reuse.
In most plastic bottle sold in the USA you will find an imprinted Resin Identifying Code. It is a number that is displayed enclosed in a triangle. Depending on that number, reuse of the plastic bottle will have various effects on your health. Here is a simplified guide:
    1 Death
    2 Maybe okay
    3 Death
    4 Maybe okay
    5 Maybe okay
    6 Death
    7 Death
In all cases the plastic bottle must be kept away from hot temperatures to avoid leakage of harmful chemicals into container contents. If at all possible, switch to a glass container that will avoid these issues.

Knights don't control that many squares. It's worth your time to check _all_ of them when in a dangerous position. Plus, what was the point of putting the queen there in the first place? It wasn't creating a threat.

At 19:09, when your opponent played Nf3, you were so intent on your plans that you gave no thought at all (at least not out loud) to WHY your opponent made that move, aka what his next move might be if you don't parry it. You seemed shocked when he played Nd4 hitting your Q; but if you had asked that question, you surely would have seen it. A lesson to us all: ALWAYS consider the "null move hypothesis" -- i.e., what would my opponent play if I didn’t make a move? Thanks for the reminder, painful as it was. Perhaps asking this question consistently might be a worthy New Year's resolution?

How many games has this guy played and won? I would guess this is a new account, due to the amount of rating points this guy got after the game, with a near perfectly played game seems a little sus to me. Be sure to check their account and report in case of suspicious activity.
All props to the guy if he is legit.

I think it’s implied by the big water jug, but it makes sense to quantify your goals. “How much water?”, not “more water.” “How many puzzles per day minimum?”, not “more puzzles.”, etc. I find it’s easier to accomplish your goals when they are measurable. Way harder when they’re vague.
    Big love, Patrick. Forever forward.

Why did the opponent gain 52 rating points for this game when he had already 100 more rating points than you? You yourself would only have won 10 point for the game. Am I missing something?

Golden rule Patrick: never place your queen in line of a discovery even if its safe, because at some point you are going to have to deal with a potential discovered attack on her which wastes time.
