Killer Whale Encounter (27s pod) in a Gale off Shetland

This week we watch the 27s orca pod in a 70kmh gale! What did we expect heading back to Shetland in winter! It can be extremely challenging at the best of times to find or see orca on Shetland but doing it in a gale is something else! No matter how strong the wind got, we were determined to follow the pod for as long as we possibly could!
Carrying on from last weeks video where we were watching the 27s orca pod in a 70kmh gale off Shetland we now follow them into the night and get to try out some night vision filming on them! We never know quite when to quit following orca, especially the 27s pod. We had followed them all day is the gusty conditions and on this occasion didn't even let the dark stop our encounter!
It's so special being able to see wild orca (aka killer whales) in UK waters so every moment spent following them is worth it. No matter the weather conditions, each encounter with these incredible animals is just as amazing as the first.
One of the best things about seeing the 27s orca pod is how close they come to the shore when they are hunting their favourite prey - seals and porpoises and the landscape of Shetland is perfect for them to come in and hug the shoreline meters from where you are stood!
