      Garmin missed a trick with andy. He has been wearing that garmin for years and I always thought why are they not getting him on board! Fair play to coros! Big man deserves it with work he puts into this channel 👏

    Another fantastic week of training Andy, you're in such great shape for Abingdon.
    I've used the coros pace 2 and heartrate monitor all this year and absolutely love it. The heartrate is so accurate 👍

    I've been using Coros for nearly a year and can't see me switching back to Garmin. It's very runner focused and doesn't constantly try to tell you how to live your life like some of the pricier Garmins.
    Great shout on the bicarb company. Dawn is looking into that.

    I went back to Garmin as found the Coros pace 2 screen just too Small along with scrolling system a bit hit and miss and the 255 I went for with multi band gps is I feel far more accurate . My old 935 is a good backup but for the money the 255's a winner. Will be interesting to see how you get on with the Coros. I've gone back on my (second hand) Treadmill for my main quicker rep's session per week, would be interesting to see a video from you on how you use your treadmill. Ian

      @TheFODRunner  17 дней назад

      Oh really? That’s interesting! For me, as you’ve seen, I’ve gone from an instinct 2 to this, it feels like an insane upgrade and all the extra features are welcomed, but will definitely take some time to get used too for sure!
      Yes someone else asked about the treadmill, I will sort that soon, but it might be after the marathon block

  • @AJB_runs

    Be interested to see how Hr monitor compares to Polar. I’m more than happy with my Polar arm strap & would take a huge improvement to consider splashing out.

    • @TheFODRunner
      @TheFODRunner  16 дней назад +1

      So far, as per my feedback here, I’m finding the responsiveness better… as is when I level off the top of a hill and start going downhill my HR readings are dropping much quicker, it’s like the polar one seemed to have a lag that I never noticed! But then that could be the age of it as it was over 3 years okd

    • @AJB_runs
      @AJB_runs 16 дней назад

      @@TheFODRunner yes polar does have a lag by a few seconds (you can tell when looking at an interval, the max Hr reading will actually be in the first few seconds of the rest period) I’ve kind of just gotten use to it.

    more phantastic running👍i can`t relate much to the overboarding tech, which is flooding into the running scene. To be honest this is one aspect, when i am grateful to be old and not have to either go with the flow or getting left behind.
    I understand all the hype but it is nothing i want to be a part of......the baking soda is not nutrition but a way to reduce the acidity in the muscles to let let them work longer before the pain makes the run slower. I am quite surprised that your stomach did not explode, be careful with that stuff

    • @TheFODRunner
      @TheFODRunner  17 дней назад

      Thanks Thomas! For me, it’ll just be nice to have something reliable in the forest in the height of summer when tree coverage is at its thickest! As for the bicarb…. Yes I was anticipating bad results but it’s mixed in with a hydrogel formula, same as the maurten product so it’s injested easier

    Hey Andy, I think your videos are fantastic but I have a question. You live in such a beautiful part of the world, how come a lot of your runs are around trading estates and road. Mine fast are on road as its easier and more often is flat is the same for you? Many thanks James

    • @TheFODRunner
      @TheFODRunner  11 дней назад

      Thanks so much! Only the last 6/8 weeks have been really focused on the estate… that’s because my trainings become “marathon specific”… so I’m basically in the final specific phase where I try and replicate marathon terrain. If I need to practice marathon pace, I need to do it on flat road, not trails. It’ll change once the marathon is done!
      But all my other runs in the week are trails if I get out in the daylight 👌

    Tip for the bicarb - prepare your own capsules. This gets rid of the foul taste and the costs are less than 0.35 EUR (30 pence) per 'serving' (about 20 grams of bicarbonate in 12 size 000 capsules). I would not use bicarb too often though - there's a lot of sodium in there!

      @@TheFODRunner I personally just use it for races 5k and below - for this the science is quite strong because they have an important anaerobic component (especially 400m-1500m). Not too sure about marathons.

    • @TheFODRunner
      @TheFODRunner  17 дней назад

      Really? See for me, that shows how poor the garmin app is, because instantly one of the best things about coros is the app… it’s insanely better than the garmin one!
      But obviously the app is different to the watch itself, just saying the app is more intuitive in these early days of testing! Watch testing continues 👊

    I know what Float is. But what is Push?

    • @TheFODRunner
      @TheFODRunner  16 дней назад +1

      The “push” is where you kick on a bit faster, so you “push the pace” a bit faster…. So 5K at MP, 1K push a bit faster than MP then 1k float a bit slower than MP
