I play video games casually and occasionally (not a gamer), and I lose most of the time. But I don't understand: why would some gamers (like the ones in the video) destroy their own expensive computers and peripherals for a loss? Or injure themselves? You can always reset, respawn, start the game over, etc., right?
Because a lot of these people have anger management issues.
Because they lack the capacity to control their own emotions.
They are basically toddlers, with expensive gaming equipment.
These are streamers. They have an audience. They are in a weird corner in between professional gamer and minor celebrity "influencer." Sometimes the games you see them playing are tournaments with cash prizes. Many times games glitch out and freeze or don't take command keystrokes or there are problems with Internet connectivity and speed and on top of all that many times their opponents are cheating and the developers of the games and organizers of the tournaments are not doing anything about that, or at least not enough. All of this can be enough to try the patience of Job, much less an overtired, hypercompetitive energy drink junkie that's trying to do well in a live broadcast of his or her performance in a video game for a live online audience. _And_ it's how many make their living.
I'm kind of amazed that scores of them haven't dropped dead of high blood pressure fueled brain aneurysms or heart attacks.
