I think everyone is aware that this is a cover and it's really a matter of personal taste whether you like this version or not. They obviously sound different so this version might not appeal to a Nick Cave fan, but I'd hardly call it a poor cover.
Yeah this is really a good cover but it's too tame for me i prefer the original... But of course another artist with different feelings means different content even if the lyrics are the same
Wow, his voice actually fits this song pretty well. Still not as dark and raw as the original, but I like this version. Better than Metallica's, definitely. :P PS, I don't mean to start a flame war or anything. It's just my opinion.
I agree. I have just listrned to the Metallica cover and it...hmm...hard to describe but didn't gave the feelings back. I like this one, it is more enjoyable but the best is Nick Cave's because it has pain, desire, aggression in the song and his voice is hauntingly ugly but beautiful in a certain way... You just have to feel it, ya know?
@FuellingObsession Its considerably different from Loverman, but I think that Jezebel is the type song that you speak of. The dark, sensual side of it, is something that only Mart could do. Very powerful song.
this song is original by Nick Cave, Metallica and Martin Gore made covers. The cover by Metallica is not bad, is in their style, but this cover (Mart`s cover) is better than the original, is unbeatable,
@AliceStaysInChains I wouldn't say Martin's voice is better. Nick Cave's voice is more soulful in my opinion. The original was a bit more darker and Cave's vocals are unquestionably more demonic than Gore's. Not a bad cover though, but it doesn't even touch Cave. This is coming from a big fan of Depeche Mode, Nick Cave, and Metallica.
Wow... I wasn't sure what to think at first... but damn if that beat and the Depeche-y snyth background don't take this song to another place! No disrespect to Nick Cave at all - he wrote it and it has awesome lyrics a great melody and a great all around sound. But this is really interesting. Cave + Depeche Mode = interesting and sexy.... and makes me think a little bit of NiN. I still like Metallicas version also. There's room for them all in my collection.
Each to his own, but I honestly think that not Nick's or Martin's comes even close to Metallica's cover of this. Metalica's vocals are just so much better and the bass/guitar combo they got going gives me gooseys
ill say it again L is for love and O is for oh yes i do V is for virtue so it aint gonna hurt you E is for even if you want me to R is for render unto me baby M is for that which is mine A is for any old hound dog N is for any old time
He sings with sexual charge beyond the lyrics, because even is a song written by Nick Cave, the original haven`t the sexuality that Martin`s version has. A qustion of lust has a HUGE sexual Charge too, but in a sweet way
The only version of the song ive never been fussy on is the original. I like metallica's better than this one but this one is good. Better than nick cave. Just personal preference.
This song does the almighty Nick Cave oh so much justice than Metallica. Nick's version cannot be compared to this, while Metallica's version is quite tasteless.
L is for love baby and O is for only you that i do V is for loving virtually all that you are E is for loving almost everything you do R is for rape me and M is for murder me A answering all of my prayers N is for knowing your lover-man's gonna be the answer to all yours
Lmao, I came to check this video out after somebody mentioned it on the Nick Cave version. ...Laughable, Who is this guy? I'll be honest, I didn't watch/listen to it all, because I COULDNT. I can't understand how people can call Metallica's version 'tasteless' or 'generic' - better guitars, better vocals... It takes the idea the original was trying to portray and conveys it in such a polished way. Well, that's my opinion anyway... =P
Love, love, love... beautiful angel genius!!!
Martin is amazing!!!!!! Love him!!!
What a good voice Mart!!!
I love this version of Loverman!
I love you Mart!! (L)
You are my angel on earth!!!
In Gore we trust !:D
Martin has the best voice in the entire world, I love it!
i like both versions, both artists, both attitudes (cave and gore)
@prppmi7 Martin Gore is better than anyone! I like Nick Cave, but Mr.Gore is my God.And his voice is incomparable to anyone else's voice.
It's a brilliant cover!!
Uau Martin..love this cover far better than the sinusite voice of the original!
martin is just plain hot. i wish i could've seen this tour!
What a nice voice o.o
I absolutely love this!!! :)
wow..i love martin´s voice... you can be my loverman :P! i love you mart!

Yeah, gimme more, gimme more, gimme more of GORE!
My hero. Love you mr. Gore.
I sooooooooooo love this song Martin rocks this so good!!!!

I wish I was there ^_^

rockstar glam !!!! i love it !!!

yeah...you right!!!I would love to hear to by Dave!
Gore is a member of Depeche mode, if you don´t know that band, seriously, check it out. And this is way better than metallicas version imo
@marielbas This cover is a bit tame. The original has a better "madness of love" feel, despair.
Totally! These words are what I have been looking for!
Hell yessss!!!

ill say it again
L is for love and
O is for oh yes i do
V is for virtue so it aint gonna hurt you
E is for even if you want me to
R is for render unto me baby
M is for that which is mine
A is for any old hound dog
N is for any old time
would love to hear this sung by Dave Gahan also :D
Remember the song... "I Want You Now" by DM too... sexually charged as well !!! See... this is why I just can't get enough.
The guy from Depeche Mode sings a good song. Whoa! Badly though, but still...
@prppmi7 No I dont lke the original version
He sings with sexual charge beyond the lyrics, because even is a song written by Nick Cave, the original haven`t the sexuality that Martin`s version has.
A qustion of lust has a HUGE sexual Charge too, but in a sweet way
I think Nick has the sexual charge too... The mad and possessive love
Both versions are good, this is a interesting rendition.
People need to shut the fuck up.
Martin gore made it most better then nick cave!
MLG =SEX Hell yeah! I agree. Loverman is such a sensual song. I want Martin to drown in my Sea of Sin... LOL
Decent.
The only version of the song ive never been fussy on is the original. I like metallica's better than this one but this one is good. Better than nick cave. Just personal preference.

Major faguito!!!
Sexy, sexy & sexy!!! XD
agree!! he is orgasmisc, and sexy HE IS THE SEX!!!!
L is for love baby and
O is for only you that i do
V is for loving virtually all that you are
E is for loving almost everything you do
R is for rape me and
M is for murder me
A answering all of my prayers
N is for knowing your lover-man's gonna be the answer to all yours
@marielbas
Nope, the original is the best, Martin makes a good own version of it whilst Metallica's version is pure shit.
This song is Nick Cave's. It's just a (poor) cover
I don't think it's better.
come on, how can you say that? The original version is way better than this
Lmao, I came to check this video out after somebody mentioned it on the Nick Cave version.
...Laughable, Who is this guy?

sounds from hell...
the original is much much better than this..
