Reality of The Frozen Teslas

- The reality of the 'frozen tesla' charging problem in Chicago has to do with ignorance. People buying electric cars without knowing fully what they're getting themselves into. I discuss in detail and demonstrate why it's important to use the onboard route planner. It not only provides an estimate battery % when you arrive but if you need to charge, it will show that as well.

I live in chicago. problem is a lot of Tesla owners here in the suburbs live in shared housing and dont have dedicated home charging. which means they rely on superchargers for day to day charging. its been about a week of below zero temps and these people who park outside and then commute, need more frequent charging and also panic/wait too long, which means these superchargers get overwhelmed. I would not buy an EV if I could not charge it at home. people are just stupid
I don't think people should be allowed to purchase an EV unless they can demonstrate with evidence they have a renewable energy source at their home or place of business to charge their car. Simply loading up the grid with more electric sucking devices on a mostly fossil fuel powered grid is overloading the grid we have (causing outages), and if climate change is real and it is man made, then it is not helping even a little bit.
Thank you for sharing your experience and insights. It's important for us to understand the different challenges faced by EV owners in different situations. Hopefully the more education is provided when buying these cars!
I agree with you!
The media knows that sensationalism gets attention, and that's how they make their money and stay relevant. A lot of people hate the idea of an electric car. Our government seems to be forcing them on us. I'm glad that you try to help educate us.Keep up the good work 👍🏾
Dude, you totally get it! The media loves to hype things up, but we're not falling for it, right? Electric cars may not be everyone's cup of tea, but that's exactly why we're here - to learn, discuss, and make informed decisions. Thanks for watching!
If I purchased an electric vehicle, it would only be for local trips. I would only use a gasoline powered vehicle for road trips.
The fact that your life has to revolve around the ability or inability to use your vehicle on external factors negates any convenience it may offer. The price you pay for these electric firecrackers with SIGNIFICANTLY variable range based on external conditions leads me to believe that these toys are made for those with money to spare or those who may be a used bridge. It appears that you are the former so it works for you.
I also think that those people in Chicago do not have level 2 chargers at home.
Fun listen as I commuted to work in my MYP in the cold! Agree with your points, the changes in behavior are so small and easy to make and any perceived inconveniences are far outweighed by the advantages. EV's certainly aren't perfect, but the bashing is out of control.
Lol a car is a car i still want a tesla so what if the battery drop
That apostrophe S at the end of Tesla (in the title of this video) is not right. You should edit the video title so that it says "Reality of The Frozen Teslas"
Whoops! Looks like my keyboard had a mind of it's own when I typed that title. Thanks for the heads up!
By 2030, you will own nothing and be happy. That inherently implies that we will all live in apartments and likely drive borrowed cars, if we are allowed to drive at all. Therefore, don’t worry about this problem. You won’t need a car or charger in your 15 minute city cuz they won’t let you go anywhere.
Personally I am debating on a x3m40i and the model 3 performance my budget is 35k, but I will say there is more incentives on teslas in california which makes it cheaper then a bmw x3 I am looking for. At home charging is extremely easy as you can basically have the charger installed for a low amount of money heck even some states including California can or will cover all of the cost to installing one but if you can't get a split volt connector which is 330$ to 400$ which can still give you the charging speeds you need.
Both are good choices but the X3 would compete more with a Model Y based on interior space alone.
@@eddiemcars True.
The reason why most of the people that were clueless about how their electric cars actually work in varying conditions is likely because those people are generally clueless about most things. I’m sorry but, after living in America for more than forty years, I’ve found that Americans don’t really want to put in the effort to learn about technology, unless it’s something like a video game. They will know plenty about that though.
Don't make out that people are stupid. The cars are a joke end of story. Stick to engined cars
