Hi Mark I purchased my flowhive + about 7 months ago and it is marginally different to yours. Im glad to see they have changed the handles at the side as ours has the V shape and makes it really hard to hold onto the box to move it. Also your base board is much better than the one that has come with ours. We were missing the little spring loaded screw thing for the main door as well and didn’t realise until watching your video that we should’ve had one of those too. Im still a beekeeper in training at the moment going out with our local beekeepers to do hive inspections etc before I get my bees this coming spring. The newer changes to the flowhive with additional knobs to open the viewing windows etc are better than what came with the one we purchased. I may go into Bunnings now and purchase extra knobs to correct ours before we get started and we are going to buy some cupboard handles to screw into the sides of our boxes to make them easier to lift. Thankyou for your video I will head off today to get the additional bits and pieces to adapt our flow hive to make it easier to use. Have a great day Cheers Theresa

These are not new changes as this is the old flow hive and these are old videos ,

@@Darren_Nicola well I certainly wish that flow hive had left the additional knobs on the doors and the cut out handles. I have arthritis in my hands and as the side handles are shaped the way that they are I am going to have to add handles to be able to pick up the boxes when they are needing inspection

Great to see you at work and I will look forward to seeing how the flowhive works out in the future. I wish I could set up a hive but not possible where I am at. But I did plant a bunch of bird/ bee flowers so they can at least come feed here.

I read/heard elsewhere that bees do not normally target flowers right next to their hives and usually go a bit further afield. Have you noticed that for the garden bees?

Bees fly away from their hives, then start collecting from outwards back to the hive. Very efficient as they don’t have to lug heavier amounts of pollen around and will often be full up before they come back to the immediate area around the base.

Hi, I cannot see the flow hive link that you said would be here?

Wondering if the flow hive lid is resilient in high wind areas? I noticed your other hives have wire straps on them.

I'm surprised you use open bottom screens. Massive moth vector where I live. I use a sticky board under it and close off the bottom with plywood.Employed year round in that fashion.

Hey Mark, out of pure interest , how often do you get stung?

I’m super keen on getting into bee keeping but the flow hives are just too much for me to be able to drop on unfortunately.

Is this a repeat?? Something to do with the algorithm. I have been following you not long after you started up your posting. I'm also wondering what happened to the truck with loader? I watched another video yesterday where you were using a trailer and a electric trolley. I'm a commercial in the Blue Mountains. All the best.............I thoroughly enjoy your posts.

How can one know if the honey has been capped and it is ready to harvest ? ; one can only see one side of one frame , the others might not yet be cured honey . 🤷‍♂️

Bees fill the frames from the centre outwards and from the centre frame outwards to the edge frames. So when the outer frames are filled the inner frames have been filled and capped already.

The use of the emoji implies you think they’re idiots and don’t know how bees work but all it does it make you look like a goober as you don’t know how bees create their plates naturally and both in a frame.
