It is always nice to see Croatians return from the diaspora to make a go of living in the Homeland, but even more so when you meet a couple of brothers who are not only making it work, but loving what they do AND making a great addition to the Zagreb gourmet scene.

Good to see people returning and hopefully taking away Pelinkovac’s excuse for flooding Croatia with migrants ( yes the name is deliberate not a mistake, actually an insult to a good drink) I’m a bit confused though, a huge portion of Croatia’s GDP comes from tourism and most tourists go to a country for either its climate or it’s culture including its food, I’m sure eating french food might give a bit of variety to locals but I don’t know if it’s what tourists want, well except us stupid Brits who go to Spain then seek out the English bar with the English breakfast 🤷🤷 I definitely think Croatia could do with more restaurants or even Konobar that concentrate on traditional home food instead of the almost identical menus that most have especially in Dalmacija. Nowadays, people are happy to eat anything anywhere as long as it's good. As for Croatia, I would assume they brought in something many won't be able to afford to eat in France-or at least that's how it makes them feel. Event tho Croatia is in the EU, the variety on the market isn't all that; people still like "novelty". There's always space to just reinvent it under "fusion cuisine" or whatever, but clearly, they have no need as they are earning well as is

Croatia has some of the best ingredients in Europe. Many people eat in Italy, go to Croatia, and have pasta, pizza, etc and say it was better than in Italy. Time to do the same for French food 😉
