I'm pretty sure only Nezuko and Tamayo are the only demons that were able to get out of Muzan's grasp without dying. Nezuko was probably more of a surprise because I'm sure he thought he killed her, along with her siblings. Which is hilarious. His inability to make sure someone who he intended to kill was dead is one of the reasons for his eventual downfall. Dude legit had a hand in his own death 💀 and that includes not knowing Tanjiro existed.

Though if it weren’t for his sister telling him to breathe, most likely after slashing the neck Tanjiro would’ve died right then and there so it was actually good he was vulnerable and didn’t finish it because it left room to show Nezuko’s new abilities. She miraculously gained this power from anger and passion from her family and (just my theory) her bloodline as well.

Muzans memory is not tanjiro’s dad it is yoriichi tsugikuni, the kamado family ancestor friend, he is the strongest demon slayer creator of the first breath.
That guy was not his dad, infact none of tanjiro's ancestor was demon slayer. The guy you see was born 300 years before tanjiro and he was friend of tanjiro's ancestor. He was the stongest demon slayer in history and he created breathing techniques. He nearly killed muzan that time, and muzan ran away, that is why muzan is afraid of him.
