Thanks, I've learned a lot more since I made this video so I didn't know what this was called at the time. This is a unary counter btw not a binary counter.
@MsPluto11 It depends on what you want accomplished. For example, I used every torch as an individual output in my enchanting room. Or you could use the last torch (pause at 8:13) as the output if you want power once all torches are lit. The general idea is, you use the torch(es) in front as the output. I hope I explained that ok.
@Gunbardo Thanks! I thought the same, but you never know how this might help someone simply due to the fact that it's different, that's why I thought it was worth sharing. :)
@XTermin8orChiefMC The decoder that it's attached to is preventing this from happening. You press the wrong button anytime in the sequence and the lock will reset. It doesn't show well in the video but there are actually lines of redstone running underneath the rows of sandstone. If you'd like, I'll be happy to send you a world download so you can see how it works.
@bigben2810 I started this map before super flat map was available, I also was too lazy to make one myself with mc edit lol. But even still, I actually like my contraptions surrounded by a natural environment.
@sherlockmatt I was going to explain this in my next tutorial but if you want to know now, you can go to this vid watch?v=zvemXn-An4Y and start at about 8:14. There are actually 2 lines, one to reset and one to set.
mr mischief would you be willing to send me the world file you have on how to attach a RS NOR latch to a combo lock cause i have absolutely no idea on how to do it =P
+TheBlockShack You can actually. You would need to put a decoder + reset line between your keypad and nor latch array. This video explains it pretty well. He starts on the subject at the 8:30 mark. ruclips.net/video/gifyd7nImzM/видео.html
+TheMischief Thanks. I'm making a huge change to an auto brewer that I say (it couldn't make akquard potions). I am making it so you can tell if it is brewing or not without going into the brewing stand. To do this, I needed to delay the redstone for 20 seconds which required 50 repeaters (or 10 rows of 5) all at full delay, which takes up a hole lot of room. But with the reset and your version of RS NOR I can cut the size and redstone amount in half. Thank you.
It basically counts the number of times you have sent a signal to the contraption. This particular design can also count down as well as up. A good example of what to use this for is for an enchanting room where you can add or subtract bookshelves to set your desired enchanting range. I wouldn't use this one though as redstone has changed so much to where I'm sure there a better, smaller, designs now.

Can you tell me how to make an RS NOR latch array so it resets all of the torches after the last one is lit?
where is the output for ur first desing of ur rs nor latch? sorry new with rs nor
Works in 1.3.1
THUMBS UP SO EVERYONE CAN SEE.
this is a binary counter.

Sent! :)
For the lock, couldn't you make it so that any time you press the wrong number it resets the lock?
