Glad to hear Carls Mum is on the mend - so worrying when you are not nearby ! The new machine looks awesome - cannot wait to see and hear more about it !
I'm looking forward to learning more about coverstitching and overlocking. I have both machines (neither are fancy just basic machines), but I know I underutilise both of them. It's always nicer to learn techniques from someone you follow. ☺
Great vlog as always you are not the last one regarding the Maeve skirt I havent made yet but love your. Love Babylock but have an Enlighten and Euphoria and don’t want to change between ❤❤
@@SewLikeDotty Not going to be there Wednesday as I have a work event in Manchester. Miss 2 sewing classes ☹But on the plus side going to a swanky dinner😎❤
I’ve just made the Mave, made it in one piece at maxi length, the fabric I had was a lovely viscose with a large pattern so I didn’t want to cut it up. I see many more in my future xx
I tried the Gloria at the Springfields Quilt Show last year. Lovely machine. I have made a Mave skirt. I did two layers, as I wanted a midi length, in chambray. It turned out a little big on the hips for me, so next time, and there definitely will be a next time, I will keep the waist the same size and shave a bit off the hips. The next one will be a maxi, too.
Oh Alison If only I’d known you 6 months ago I sold my Gloria as I just didn’t use it I just didn’t know of anyone that would have helped me through all it had to offer !! It’s so sad as I lost a lot of money over it I kept all the feet I bought to sell on separately as they were very expensive happy to sell at half price all still in boxes never opened !!! I’ve the acclaim as you know the feet don’t work along side the acclaim But love the brand baby lock it’s the best in my eyes xx Love watching your vlogs See you soon xx
I keep promising myself to upgrade my laptop. I'd need to do that to join the virtual social because my ancient machine's camera is pretty ropey. Finances are a bit tight after Christmas, sadly. But I'm hoping to join you eventually, Alison. Must book at A Stitch in Tyne and then remember to come! I think I booked several months ago and forgot to come! Oh dear...
Definitely Liz A Stitch in Tyne is filling up now You can do Sew Virtual on a table or phone you just can’t see as many people on your screen- you just swipe across the screen to see the other people x
I’m following with great interest your Mave make. As I’m about the same height as you, I will have to check the length of the tiers. I’m going to the big quilt show at Newark tomorrow and hope to buy some fabric to make it.
loved last nights get together, sorry if i was a bit full on but i am struggling to cope with hubby in hospital , it was a relief to see and talk to people xx
I made the 3-tier Mave Skirt in white cotton dobby fabric and I love it 😍 I'm only 5'2" and it wasn't too long for me, I wonder if you maybe cut one of the layers too long? I only ask because I nearly did that then realised it was gonna be sooo long haha
Alison, I'm joining the virtual sew on Thursday the 23rd at 7 your time. I have no info on how to prepare for that. Is there somewhere I can find that info? I want to be ready to make the best use of our time. Hope to join more if it works out. Thanks
Hi Looking forward to meeting you To access Zoom if you’ve not used it before just go onto Google type in zoom and then when you go on it you just click on join meeting On the confirmation of booking email, which came from Book When? There was a meeting ID and password for zoom you just enter these and come straight in to the meeting. You don’t need to have an account on zoom and you don’t need to download it, but it is better to access it on a laptop or tablet as you will see more people on your screen than a phone If you need any other help, just drop me a message on Instagram or Facebook messenger
I wondered about joining the virtual social but couldn't envisage how it works when everyone is chatting together but from different locations. Not like in a room where people probably talk in pairs or small groups. Never been to any sewing social.
Hi I get that so we pop onto mute when machines are running or any back ground noise - I can do that as the host if people forget I think people are generally polite and wait for a break in chat to dive in but occasionally yesterday in excited moments there were a few bits where we all joined in 😂 I guess my role is to be like an orchestra conductor and keep the conversation going by bringing in everyone at different times times Everyone enjoyed yesterdays sessions so maybe it’s worth coming along meeting some new sewing friends and sharing your ideas too 💖
@SewLikeDotty Thank you, I might give it a go. Probably better than a real life social as you don't have to lug heavy machines around - I'm getting too old for that malarkey!
If you just go onto Google on your laptop, it’s better on the laptop as you can see more people on the screen on a phone. You can only see three and you have to swipe across to see the rest of the people. You literally just going to Google , search for zoom And then when you’re coming on to the session you just click onto join meeting and on your confirmation email there is a meeting ID and password you enter those and just come straight into the meeting You don’t have to have a downloaded or anything like that, and you don’t have to have an account
How much is the machine? I bet it's expensive as I have a Babylock overlocker which air threads but its no longer available and that was over £1000 then 😮
Thank you for all the great information on the machine have a wonderful week 😊😊😊
It’s a pleasure- happy sewing Robyn

@@SewLikeDotty OK thanks. I will have to look into how Zoom works as I don't have that on my laptop or phone.

Do all overlockers allow you to gather I have Janome 634D….love your vlogs…
Yes Hazel I’m going to cover it all on 26th 😊
