Your dress is lovely on you - so very Laura Ashley! I’m a Laura Ashley girl at heart - was very sad when her stores closed here in Canada. Thanks for the Fleur and Felix comparisons - I have both patterns in my to do list pile and will be giving both a go.❤
Like you, I also like it when the simplicity of a pattern shows off the fabric. It is after all why so many of us sew (ie all the gorgeous fabrics!) Your dress is so pretty.
I was just thinking that I thought Laura Ashley made a very similar style in a baby cord when you mentioned cord. I really like it and it looks lovely on you xx
Hi Alison. I love your dress lovely fabric. I too have made this in a teal twill and it came out great. Did the same as you with the collar and I liked that the skirt wasn’t too gathered and full. Plan to make a summer one in a lighter fabric which I think will look nice 😊
Gorgeous dress Alison, and very flattering. I liked the fact that you gave us two patterns that could be hacked into the Feliz as I have these patterns and don't want to buy any more patterns!!!! Thank you X
The dress looks lovely and the style really suits you, Alison. The fabric has a lovely movement and is reminiscent of something I had many, many 🌙 🌚 moons ago. Thank you for the update, and I hope to see you on Sunday (or, in my case, Monday)❤😂🎉 🇦🇺 🪃
That’s a lovely dress Alison and you look great in it. I’ve made the Lyra but haven’t worn it, there’s something about it that I just don’t like on me but I can’t work out what it is 😂😂. I’ll definitely be looking at the Feliz pattern. ❤❤
Love the dress on you Alison! I’ve made the Lyra but I find a drawstring makes it difficult to distribute the gathers of the skirt - so is can feel bulky. Have thought about just adding elastic! But the fabric of your Lyra is amazing. Am thinking about the Fleur so very much grateful for your thoughts!, 🎉🎉
I’ve been looking for a dress pattern from 50 years ago, can’t remember the number but it was my all time favourite as I put on weight I got rid of them but I think I could size up if I ever found again.
Love your feliz. I made one years ago in a black linen. I still have it. I had trouble with the collar too but at the time I didnt have enough confidence to do it another way. So it is a little bit wonky but I still wear it a number of times every year. Maybe I will revisit. Must still have the magazine.
Please can you do a 'How to' for gathering on the over locker...I had NO idea I could do that!! I have a Janome 800DG which is VERY basic but it works for me ☺️
I'm with you on the buttonholes business, Alison. Why do them if you don't need to? It's a risk I prefer not to take if I can avoid it. That style and fabric really suit you.
The dress is lovely and very flattering. The fabric is definitely doing the talking and I prefer the silhouette to the Lyra. I do love Fibre Mood but there is often a single had scratching point in the instructions but I have only ever had one fail which I still think is a faulty pattern 😂😂😂. I am inspired to try the Feliz and bias bind the neck - which I would not have thought about if you had not compared with the Fleur. Happy Sewing 😊. Lynne
Love the dress. So pleased you finally got your ‘Laura Ashley’ dress done. It looks great on you too. 🥰 x
Me too even if it doesn’t look like the original 😂
Love the dress Alison. Tackling the Langston trousers right now ❤
Yay! Thank you! Good luck with the trousers
Dress looks fabulous.
Thank you
Really beautiful dress Alison xx
Thanks so much Tamlyn 😊
Hi Allison - the dress turned out gorgeous! I love the fabric. I’ll be adding this pattern to my ‘to buy list’.
It’s lush I’m over the moon

Ooo go for it - give it a go - maybe some Laura Ashley vibe fabric from your stash
Id ike a deo on using the dif feed n the overlocker for your gathering. I've never used my overlocker for anything other than seam finishing 😊
I’ve got a vlog planned very soon Bev watch this space 😍
Beautiful material and love the collar.
Thanks 💖

Yes! Thank you!
I do like a simple pattern which shows off the fabric and this does exactly that. You look lovely in it 😎❤
I totally agree! Thanks Sue
Gorgeous Alison 😍
Thank you 😊
Very informative vlog. Thanks for the comparisons. I've the fleur pattern so I must try it. Thanks again. Love all your vlogs.

Gorgeous dress Alison, I think a black and white print is always a classic.
Classic 🥰
Your Feliz dress is perfect, I love your fabric and yes, very Laura Ashley. 🌹🌹🌹

Turned out very Laura Ashley! Gorgeous!!!😊
Thanks Karol got there in the end
What a pretty dress, Alison! I think it will be a favourite with you. Thank you for the comparisons with the Fleur and Lyra.
You are so welcome! I think it will soon be a favourite too

The dress is gorgeous Alison, might give the felix a try! It was one pattern I really liked when I got the magazines. The fabric is very Laura Ashley.
Go for it Emma
It looks beautiful Alison ❤😊
Thanks 😍
Very Laura Ashley vibe ❤❤❤
Thanks I love it

Oh thank you!
I'm large in the bust department and I always avoid high necks, but this looks lovely on you.
I’m the same but it’s flattering on both counts I love it
Oh I do like that dress.I was mad for Laura Ashley in the 70s! Even the wallpaper. I like that it doesn't have tiers. I'm not a tier girl.
My mum used to make Laura Ashley dresses I loved them
That’s a lovely dress Alison and you look great in it. I’ve made the Lyra but haven’t worn it, there’s something about it that I just don’t like on me but I can’t work out what it is 😂😂. I’ll definitely be looking at the Feliz pattern. ❤❤
It’s definitely less bulky in the skirt and waist
Would love to see in a solid sometime to see special stitches 🧵
Lots coming Karol !!!!
Really suits you Alison. Love it!!! x
Thanks Annie x

I share your frustration

Very nice dress really suits you 😊😊
Thank you 😊 I love it

It’s coming very soon !!!!
I'm with you on the buttonholes business, Alison. Why do them if you don't need to? It's a risk I prefer not to take if I can avoid it. That style and fabric really suit you.
Definitely-it’s always the last thing and you’re keeping 🤞
Lovely fabric and dress.
Thank you! 😊
Love your dress. I am just under 5ft and feel I would be swamped by a gathered skirt. Maybe I'll give it a go. It might suit me.?????
It’s not such a voluminous skirt as many so it could be a good option
These loose fitting shirt style dresses look really lovely knee length too!! Do iiiiit, you know you want to!!!!!

Oh thank you I definitely think the bias binding will work - might be able to switch the sleeves too
I might need to have a play with that
Love the dress! Have you tried TATB Nell? I'm tall like you and I love me a Nell! It's really comfy and easy to wear
No I got the Fleur and I really like it - they are very similar aren’t they
xXX👍👍👍
Thanks 💖
