First he says the sun has 99.9% of the mass of the solar system which means almost every star more massive than sun is ALSO heavier than the entire solar system (which is a huge number of stars) making this entire video pointless. But when he said stars undergo chemical reactions that turn hydrogen into helium I couldn't take any more. This channel is as useless as Riddle: heavy on clickbait, light on science.

    3:18 Erm, no - in 26,000 years it will be Polaris again. Over that period, it will be several different stars depending on which one is closest to our celestial north pole at the time, and THIS cycle takes 26,000 years to complete.

    • @Scythinite
      @Scythinite 3 года назад

      Yes, but no. The reason why is because the axis is always moving and so are stars, in 26,000 years it should be Either Vega, or Arcturus, Very very low changes but still possible it could be Eta Carina A/B

    • @Penfold101
      @Penfold101 3 года назад

      @@Scythinite the precession moves the point in the sky earth’s pole is pointing at round as if drawing a circle on the sky. Thus, in 26,000 years it will be pointing back at the same position - currently within a degree of Polaris. Due to each star having its own (incredibly small) proper motion, Polaris will have moved slightly and be a little further away from the exact point the pole points too, but still the closest start to it. If you go BACK 26,000 years the pole is still pointing at Polaris, but it was slightly closer than it is today. The star it’s pointing to will change over the course of those 26,000 years as it traces the circle in the sky, but it always comes back to the same point at the end of that cycle.

    Question for scientists... What compels gas and dust to coalesce into something dense enough to eventually, gravitationally form a star when the gas and dust can enjoy the freedom of the vacuum of space? I understand that mathematically, it is possible for gas and dust to form a gravitational core strong enough to do this, but what makes this initial core form in the first place?

    Hey brightside i was thinking, it requires infinite energy to propel an object to light speed which is impossible right? Or is it? Reaching a type 2 civilisation i think would bring that goal to fruition, all the energy from our home star should be able to propel a space craft to ridiculous speeds or maybe reaching a type 3/ 4 where energy from blackholes will be at our disposal. Looking forward to your reply teacher

    • @thewithergamer1736
      @thewithergamer1736 4 года назад +1

      See the diameter. An average *round* eraser has a diameter 1 cm whereas a basketball has about 20 cm. Calculate
      20×20×20 and you'll get the result: 8000 round erasers in that basketball. He said "half the diameter of an eraser" so you should calculate 8000×2×2×2 and the answer is 0.64 million. A bit less than 1 million Earths could fit in the Sun so see.

Uy scuti is like a giant cloud that would dwarf our star....but doesn't necessarily have the mass you think it would being so much larger in volume.
