I know we come here for the laughs (and there was plenty of that, for sure), but this was one of the more robust discussion all ways, so great job and thanks for holding space and teasing out some of these topics this time, gents. Loved Shireen! Haven’t heard ‘creolisation’ in a minute, also! Would love to actually see this cookbook…not sure if it ‘belongs’ to UWC now or if she’d consider producing a version to sell or just for the culture…
Guys!!! This episode went deep. Loved it! As a South African living in London this makes me feel less home sick❤. The thesis/cookbook sounds really interesting. Would it be possible to access it somewhere/how?
deeeeep!!!!! the whole apartheid, history conversation. my parents didn't talk about their experiences because as JP said they were parents. My dad didn't talk to us because his experiences might have led us to dislike a respective race where his job was rather to teach us to look beyond our differences and accept people instead hating and rather being a statistic of the legacy of apartheid. Its our generations duty to kill the hate and embrace the love as a generation of FIRST.
So true, in many ways it was their way of not creating any biases but also lead to some of us missing out on elements of that time. Thank you for watching 🙏🏾
