It’s a track *weapon* through and through, and it’s wonderful. Like, GM really didn’t leave anything on the table when they designed the ZLE for its intended purpose. Brutal, uncompromising, and potent are what I would call this beast.
The engineering behind this last generation of Camaro is amazing. From Palm Beach cruiser to Track spec, every flavor of the Camaro earns respect. Thank you Miles for taking the ZL1 1LE for a spin in the summertime oven. A turkey in a roasting pan in the back seat would've been fully cooked by rides end - just add stove-top stuffing! The things you do for your fans - awesome.
As a die-hard Mustang enthusiast - i have nothing but pure respect for the ZL1 1LE. Its an outstanding package in every way. If only there were enough money, i'd be proud to one one right alongside my other cars!
Aside from the blind spot(s), I agree. The rear, passenger side blind spot is *_SO_* bad, I actually completely changed my mind about purchasing a 1SS 1LE Camaro, after sitting in a ZL1.. It's literally dangerous to drive on the road, without the 2SS blind spot monitoring. You might be able to get used to it over time, I don't know but I don't think I'm going to find out.
@@hhaste you can’t see from the sides or something when you are in it because I heard you have to lean to see the light turn green that’s the only con I’ve heard so far
I’m so glad I got one of these before Chevy discontinues them. All the 6th gen’s are incredible but the ZL1 is really something special. For 3800lbs it’s so fast and really dances in the corners with smaller and lighter cars. Unbeatable performance and character for the price. Plus loved seeing the Camaro (and ZL1) name out at LeMans this year!!
Just got a 2023 ZL1 1LE A10; originally had a 2018 M6 but the dampers began leaking and the dealer forgot to include the warranty so was able to give me a refund. The suspension is rough, but how bad it is for you just depends on your tolerance; I had an OG M2 with coil overs as a daily and that car was WAY more harsher so this feels a little better. My biggest worry was visibility, but It was actually really quickly to adapt to, just extend your mirrors and boom. Belt line was another worry, as I always park in in-door parking lots, but it was actually not bad, even around tight corners. The car feels smaller than it actually is. Part of me wishes for the M6 again, but this was the only ZLE I saw being sold at MSRP, others had at least a 10k markup as it was a 2023. Ultimate track daily.
I’d prefer the normal ZL1 but they’re all great. I’m used to the blind spots so they aren’t terrible, if you flip the switch on the bottom of the rear view mirror the camera will turn on to help with visibility. & the ambient lighting looks great at night.
That is a beautiful car. My uncle retired from GM and would NOT drive anything but a GM car. He owned GTO's, Firebirds, and a 1961 corvette. He always said since 2005, if he was to buy a Ford, the mustang GT or Shelby would be it. He passed away a few years ago. I think he would approve of this car. 😊
Miles my man, May we request a review of the _non-1LE_ version of the ZL1 with a manual? That latter being the most important factor. Please and thank you. Your last review of the (non-1LE) Camaro ZL1 was approximately six years ago and it was not your standard filming format. Since that time, your presentation has gotten tremendously better. Not to mention your cinematography has vastly improved. In fact, I can safely say that you have become my preferred POV automotive channel. I would like to point out that you annotate what functions you are changing along the drive. As well as what button(s) you are pushing to achieve said function. Plus I prefer your locale versus oh let's say...Michigan but I digress. Nevertheless getting back to the topic at hand. In my humble opinion, the 1LE track pack places the Camaro ZL1 *_firmly_* on the motorsports end of the spectrum. Sure you can daily drive it but you are only kidding yourself. It is what I call a 'high risk - high reward' gamble. This is why I think the standard ZL1 6spd _without_ the 1LE track package is the ideal everyday driver. With all that being said, in twenty years time I guarantee we will be seeing ZL1's crossing the Barrett-Jackson Auction block (as long as they have a manual transmission). Mark my words. Stay classy my friends.
Hey Bert, thank you for the kind words and detailed feedback. I was on the lookout for a non-1LE ZL1 to review as well, but couldn't find one nearby. I'll keep looking, and hope to review that along with an SS (1LE or non) in the near future!
I think the ZL1 is underrated in terms of its sound/engine tone. I think it’s the best sounding version of the LT4 and one of the best sounding modern muscle cars, if not the best- and I’ve had a GT350
I’m a Chevy guy through and through but I test drove a GT 350 before buying my zl1 1le. I fell in love with that voodoo motor. It is absolutely hands-down the best sounding motor ever made.
Great review - agree the somewhat stiff suspension can be a bit much at times but when you’re carving up a highway, it’s pure nirvana. Glad I got one of the last ‘23 ZL1 1LE’s with a manual. This car is literally like driving a circus every day - in a good way.

You should still find a regular ZL1 or SS 1LE to drive! You need a smooth fast road to fully exploit the ZL1 1LE's extra aero and grip over a regular ZL1. On that tight bumpy road an SS 1LE would be better because its lighter and has mag ride, and a regular ZL1 would be a better daily if you aren't tracking much because you still get most of the handling but more comfort when just cruising around
Hwy 39 I know that road like the back of my hand I use to ride my 2014 r6 out there. Try hwy 2 next °9 miles° kinda far in the back of mountains good place to test high speed and cornering.

The main thing is they are both manual . Save the manuals. Type r is comfortable, practical , fast , and weighs a lot less so you can really toss it everywhere.
