Join me on an unforgettable journey from the quaint streets of Williamsburg, Virginia, to the electrifying lights of Los Angeles' Sunset Strip. In this video, I share the incredible true story of how a kid with a dream ended up living the rock 'n' roll lifestyle.
From strumming chords at Busch Gardens to honing my craft at the prestigious Musicians Institute in Hollywood, every step of my journey was filled with determination and passion. But it wasn't all glitz and glamour - I faced my fair share of struggles, from financial hardships to almost settling down for good.
But fate had other plans in store for me. Out of nowhere, I found myself joining forces with "Shock and the Night and Day Horns", a Sunset Strip band that would change my life forever. Suddenly, I went from zero to hero, gracing the cover of the esteemed Rock City News and headlining iconic venues like The Roxy on Sunset.
In this video, I pull back the curtain and reveal the highs, the lows, and everything in between. With plenty of captivating details, photos, and videos, you'll be immersed in the rollercoaster ride that is my journey from small-town dreamer to Sunset Strip sensation.
Get ready to rock and roll as we dive into a story that proves dreams really do come true, even in the most unexpected ways. Don't miss out - hit play and join me on this wild ride through the world of rock 'n' roll.

Lol, great stories. I was the original drummer of the band Shock in San Diego 1985. Cheers Brad.
Wow! So you knew Jamie way back when. Cool! Cheers!
Another great story.
Thanks so much!
It's so nice to hear about this era when music and guitar players did things and got together and because nowadays everybody hates on everybody
Everybody is kind of in there own digital world and not many get together and feel tho joy of creating something
The 80s were crazy man. And it was cool. Peace.
Yes indeed
Brad - I, too, was at GIT in ‘86-87. Like you, I came to Hollywood from a small town. What a culture shock. Really enjoying your stories & perspectives - much of it is my story as well. Keep it up!
Wow. We must have been there the same time. What an amazing place that was then. Best to you!
Excellent Brad! I'm still very sad about Brian...he was a sweet guy.
Yes he was
Brad we both could write a book about music so keep them coming brother !!!!!!!
I will brother! RUclips is my book!
@@badbrad Right on !!
I was in La in late 90 .i saw. Alot of bands .wish i saw you guys
Me to!
That's a great LA story. I also took some classes at MI (PIT) and lived in Hollywood in the '90s. I also played the Sunset Strip back then; the 80s and 90s were the last golden decade of the Sunset Strip.
Wow very cool! Nice to meet you! It was the last hurrah for the strip. It has been a steady decline since. Sad to see it like that. Best to you and keep rocking!
@@badbrad Thanks, you too. We probably crossed paths in LA and didn't even know it.
@@PatrickCharlesjpc Yes indeed. Do you know Barry Chenault?
@@badbrad No I don't know him, but I've heard of him.👍🏾
X-lent Brad!!
🙏
You sound exactly like me I've always had to kick everyone else in the ass
Sometimes you gotta make em motivated....
Great story thanks man.
Glad you enjoyed it
Now THAT is a great back story. Very entertaining. I want to hear more about how you evolved over the years. Congratulations on a great career.
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
Great story!
Thank you! 🙏
Excellent!
Thank you! Cheers!
great story!!! Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it!
More to come…
Haha damn bro I would have had no idea you lived that life. We’ve lived VERY similar lives. Except I didn’t get the chance to experience The Sunset Strip. Always dreamed to see that place but was still a little too young. I did the whole Hair Band thing as a lead singer. I still have HAIR TO MY ASS. LOL. Was in a band in Philly and did pretty good for ourselves. Problem was we were a little to late to the scene. I believe we were the last Hair Band standing at the time. But yeah man those days will ALWAYS be in my heart. I just wish I had been born 10 years earlier. Who knows I may have actually been able to make THE DREAM come true if I was. Great story man. I can see the LOVE OF IT ALL in your eyes and in your voice.
Bro I feel the same way got to the strip too late. Had no idea what was coming. Still I’m glad I experienced it. It was epic.
Hello Cleveland! Er..Los Angeles! I know you used The Recycler...fess up...
Lol
Great story Brad !!
🙏
Great story about your time in Cali. Nice you've included the photos and the paper. These are a lot of fun, keep 'em coming. When I search for "Shock" in Cali all I get is a punk band with different people that ran '76-79.
Yeah there was another band before this band called "Shock" and they sent us a cease and desist back in the day....eventually our management changed our name to Boy Elroy....not much on the net now about either band. Trying to change that by putting this info out. Thanks again brother!
Great story Brad! That goes to show people that sometimes when one door closes (her mom pushing you away), another one opens (joining a cool band). You nailed it about the classified ads...guys w/ "rock star image" but no talent. Dealt with that a lot. Keep the stories coming.
Yes indeed! Thanks bro! Yep it was the better option.....Those were the "daze". Will do.
Conversationally, I still have a landlines, and when I'm home I turn off my cell phone. Everyone who I care to actually talk to knows to call the landline. In my gameroom/mancave I've got a wall mounted fire engine red rotary phone with one of those 16' curly cords
That is awesome!
Very cool. Would love to hear the new tracks. What was your rig back then?
When I first started with the band I had a 100 watt Mesa S.O.B. In white with the matching 4-12 and a carvin 4-12 on the bottom. No pedals: just straight in. Roll off the volume for clean tone.
@@badbrad Nice! It's really all you need, everything else is just icing.
@@Scott__C Yes indeed! Forces you to focus on the playing and no tap dancing on pedals.
@@badbradCarvin! Great company!
@@fumanpoo4725 Yes it was
